Just wondering. I know people say when you drink you should have a full stomach but what is the reasoning behind this

Food in your stomach slows the absorption of alcohol, and dilutes the alcohol a bit so it enters your bloodstream slower.

Think of pouring beer down a pipe. If nothing is in there, it runs thru. But if you stick a chewed-up hamburger in the middle of the pipe, the beer will slow down. Same principle.

so when you get sick from drinking too much you have something to throw up also the food and water in your body helps to dilute the alcohol

Primarily, you should have some food in the stomach before drinking because that will lessen the chances of your developing hyperacidity.

Water dilutes th liquor which, if drunk raw, will destroy your stomach lining.
