This term suggests that the "Cinderella Men" came from the bottom of the barrel, the odds wern't in there favour and the opposition was better. The "Cinderella Men" are called such becasue it is called a "Fairytale" ending.

Another boxer who had the nickname cinderella man was Steve Robinson the former WBO feather weight champion. Pryor to his shot at the title he had an average record of 16 wins 8 losses and had never fought anyone of note. He only got a title shot due to one of the original contenders dropping out at the last minute and he was the last minute substitute. Once winning he seemed to transform from a very average journey man fighter to a very good fighter and held his title for a few years after that.

Actually the Journalist Damon Runyon nicknamed Braddock "Cinderella Man".

Only one boxer was ever called "The Cinderella Man" and that was James J Braddock by his trainer James Jacobs before he upset Max Baer for the championship.
