generally speaking, there should be an expiry date somewhere on the package/bag or carton of milk. So long as it's refrigerated, it should last at least a few days after the expiry date, but watch it, it will go fast when it does.

It really depends on the expiration date. I don't like to keep milk in our house for much more than one week or so, but there are four of us :) milk goes quickly. Trust the expiration date, but if there are only 1 or 2 people in your household, buy smaller cartons of it.

In Cincinnati we have a chain of dairy stores called United Dairy Farmers (UDF) locally owned and the employees there have said for years that your milk from them is guaranteed 2 wks after the expiration date on the bottle and if our milk should go sour bring it in for a refund or exchange. Pretty good guarantee isn't it? I always smell my milk and if it doesn't smell sour, then I drink it . I have gotten milk that is soured right from the first time I open it so I always do the smell test before the drink /sip test

Generally, you can use the milk for up to a week after the sell by date stamped on the carton. 1% and skim milk can last even longer. Just use the sniff test. If its questionable use it for cooking only.

Check the carton or bottle. There's usually an expiration date on it. Generally it's good for at least two weeks after purchase.

If you microwave the milk for a minute .. it will last up to one week past expiration date
somehow kills the enzymes that makes milk spoil

the date is a sell by date...not a use by date...usually good for 4-5 days...smell it, you be the judge... I have had milk 10 days after the date and it was still good
