First of all a green card and a visa are two different things. Visas are usually for a certain length of time either for visitors or for foreigners with work permits. The green card (also known as Alien Registration - go figure) is what you get after you have applied for a permanent resident status.
Yes, they can both be taken from you very quickly if you break the law in anyway that is deemed bad. If your visa expires and you have overstayed, you will be deported when found out. If you commit a federal offense, your permanent residency status can be taken away from you and you will be deported back to the country of your birth AFTER you have served your time in prison. I hope this helps!

The only way you can be deported back to the country from where you emigrated from is to found guilty of severe crimes against this country. Go through the legal process if you are innocent of the charges. You are still innocent until found guilty

I'm guessing that the green card could be taken away and then you would be deported but i don't know if that's accurate

Yes, if the legal residency was attained through illegal means.
No, if all documents were submitted in accordance with statutes and regulations. Furthermore it is not just to Mexico, but Germany, France, England and all those countries where our ancestors came from.

As long as your green card and visa is valid and you do not break the law you have nothing to worry about.

if you are caught breaking the law, you can be sent packing back to Mexico, but if you stay clean you should be okay. don't get involved with bringing others across the border from home, I know it's tempting but you worked hard to get your legal status don't jeopardize it.
