My arms have dry white patches of skin on my arms that is noticeable. I've been having these patches since a pool party in 6th grade and my dermatologist said that I should avoid going into a pool because of the chlorine. The patches are ashy and rough and can become really dry after a hot shower. How to deal with this problem?

Even with a prescription lotion you need to moisturize, avoid the hot shower and opt. for a warm shower and the hot water dries you skin out more. And try a thick moisturizing cream for after the shower, they tend to last longer and the 'liquid' cream ones.

Both of my daughters have eczema, and my husband is a pediatrician and he and our girls pediatrician always advise not to bathe them every day if they have eczema. It dries out their skin. It is also important to get the eucerin on their body within 3 minutes of coming out of the tub- it will absorb a lot better that way. We bathe our daughters (ages 3 and 4) about every 3 days, more often if they are dirty. In the Winter they don't get as dirty because they are inside a lot more. It may sound gross, and I would never let them walk around dirty or nasty, but it does really help their skin not to bathe them every day. Hope that helps!

Keep your skin moisturized. Apply it after taking showers and before and when you wake up in the morning.
