I am having trouble with faith. I've gone to church I've been saved. I've also done serious soul searching in alternate religons and things... I've done everything I thought I should and the whole time I felt like I was just playing pretend... I want to believe in something... I need to.. I just feel lost. I need help healing inside. What can I do. What do you do when you feel yourself slipping? Please no atheists on this one. I have no problems with anyones personal preferences but this isn't an issue on whether or not to believe in something its how can I strengthen my bond with a higher power. You can e-mail me through the profile or respond here Thanks for your time.

Hi there! Don't get anxious about his as faith will walk many a mile without feelings. You have accepted Jesus as your savior and thats as far as you can go at this stage as the Lord will do the rest. He is not expecting great things from you and in time he will reveal his will for you. Take comfort in the fact that you are saved and have eternal life NOW! All through the Bible there were many who simply had to wait on the Lord for him to put his will into action in their lives. Moses was over 80 years old before he ever knew the Lord. May I suggest you continue to read your Bible every day and I would suggest you make an appointment with the Pastor of a New Testament Church and go along and have a talk with him in private as he would assist you to see things in a far better light. I would recommend a Baptist Church Pastor as they preach straight from the Bible with no frills and they were a tremendous help to me many years ago when I seemingly encountered the same problem so you are not alone in this situation. Please let me know how you went and please stay in touch. May the Lord bless you in all you do.

First, let me say that God hears your cry. He understand and the mere reason you are going through this time is so that when God helps you with your loneliness and gets you through this tough time, your faith will increase even more and you will have a testimony.

I have been through this before and actually I am going through a situation where I only have my faith to get me through this one. But I am not worried because I know that God is all I need. I heard Joyce Meyer say that when you are struggling with a certain issue, read what the bible says about that particular issue. It will strengthen you so that when you feel lonely and hopeless, you will have the spiritual food to get you through the tough times. Also, find yourself a prayer partner. Someone who can lift you up. And don't stop believing, ask God to help you with your unbelief and he will. I have been through so much and I know it was God preparing me to give testimony and help others in the body of Christ get through similar situations. Just don't give. I know you some faith, all we need is the faith of a mustard seed to move mountain and remember that this is TEMPORARY. This situation is temporary, this life is temporary. God has prepared a mansion for you in Heaven. Also, go to a Christian book store and ask them to help you find a book on faith. I will pray for you also. Be blessed and stand my sister.

My faith comes from my experiences and you may not have any expriences or they didn't leave a mark on you.

I once handled an explosive chemical charge and it should have blown my hands off but didn't. The reaction stopped right at the egdge of my fingers. I could still see the unspent chemical in the tubing.

More than once something stopped me from stepping off a street corner only to have a car whizzy by at 65 from nowhere. HAD I stepped off the curb I'd be dead.

Something, like a pain of glass, simply stopped me dead.

That's where my faith comes from.

After a while I started to accept it.

Now, this isn't fool proof as at least twice I feel badly to the ground and broke my arms, so God or the Angeles aren't always there or maybe you need something to remind you to be more careful or to slow you down.

But when you go to step off a curb on a GREEN light and you are stopped dead in your tracks for no reason and 2 seconds later a car runs the red light at 65 and you didn't see them at all anywhere, you being to wonder...

WOW - you are on a ugly, beautiful, awful, awesome ride. Time in the desert is Biblically a time of purification and preparation. It can be so tough that angels came and helped Jesus after his time.
a) I don't see any head work here. Are you doing more than following your emotions?
b) Remember, emotions are neither right nor wrong, they simply are. What we do w/ them is where we move to r & w.
c) I don't see a connection here w/ a discipler/encourager/community. Christianity is expressed and enhanced in community. Even if it is just sittling alone week after week. In one of the churches I served, we had a Japanese lady who walk to service every Sunday. She didn't speak English and I only knew Good Morning. Every Sunday because she could feel the worship/peace.
d) I read you pushing help/real thing/ away as if y ou are afraid of what might happen. Check in with a pastor.
God bless.

I am kind of doing the same thing with searching, but I do not feel lost or slipping. I have a close relationship with GOD out side any religion. I am searching for His word and what He wants from me. If you pray to Him, don't worry about if it is the Catholic way or the Baptist way, just you and Him. He will be with you through your search.GOD bless

Listen to your inner spirit on this one.
You can study too many things and get into confusion.
The spirit of life, is the spirit of God. Jesus said I will not leave you without comfort, I will send comfort to you to lead you and guide you into all truth, he will teach you all things, what you need to know, and fill that void and emptiness with himself if you will let him in.
He will heal all your hurts and pain, and heal all the lost hopes and dreams. He will bring inner healing to all your being and make you whole and new and fresh.
Just like a new flowers that springs forth with new life, you will spring forth with new life, a hope, an expectancy to walk into a place you have never been before and experience things you never dreamed to exist
Be brave, be strong...

There are Bible studies that are available to help you in your walk with God. One very helpful one that I did was called "Experiencing God" by Henry T. Blackaby & Claud V. King. www.lifeway.com/discipleplus.
It is always better to do a bible study in a small cell group (5-12 people is best.)
After being saved and wanting to grow in the Lord, I found that doing bible studies with others helped me become more connected to God. You really need encouragement from others to help you grow. If your church does not have small cell groups, you might want to talk to your pastor or one of the elders about getting one started. If you cannot do it through your church, do you have some friends that would like to commit to meeting once a week to study God's word? The bible is God's letter to humanity and by studying it you are hearing him speak to you.

At different times in your Christian walk you will be attacked by various spiritual forces who feel threatened by you and your faith. These can be trying at times, which may attempt to cause you anxiety or depression. Refresh yourself with the promises of God especially from the Psalms, Proverbs and the NT epitles. All Christians go through a bootcamp if you will that generally takes about three years. You may be going through yours now, I don't know.

A healthy diet is the first step to feeling good. A diet of fruits, veggies, grains, dairy; you'll be feeling better shortly. Transition to a healthy by means of supplemental vitamins and minerals. Go for a walk, sit outside, look at the clouds.

Sin breeds death. If we have knowledge of sin yet continue sinning, how can we expect to feel alive? Being saved isn't a matter of pretending to know Jesus, but a matter of changing and putting off old habits.

First of all the bible says that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God Romans 10:17now what that has always meant to me was that if I studied the word of God that it would increase my faith. What is faith ? Hebrews 11:1 Answers this one for you. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Get a Strong's Concordance and look up faith and see what all faith could accomplish.
Hebrews 11:6 Says without faith it is impossible to please him(God);for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,(that God exist) and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
In other words he will care for you, answer your prayers, and has a place prepared for you when you are know longer here on this earth. Sometimes are faith is challenged when we think that God is not answering are prayers. But believe me he answers them but we do not always recognized his voice. You need to learn to recognize the voice of God. There is a great study book called Experiencing God that can help with this. After reading your bio You may want to ask your self if you are trully saved because it is not just with the lips but in the heart also. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
That means you not only say it but believe it. I know its hard to believe things sometimes without seeing it with your own eyes but there is enough evidence to know that it is real all around you.Look at Thomas he didn't believe until he touch the wounds in Jesus' hands feet and side. And Jesus said more blessed is them that have not seen and still they believe. That means you're more blessed.
Just keep reading and studying key word study your Bible. Don't go searching for God any where else because he will reveal himself to you through his word and his word is Jesus and no other religion will teach you Jesus like Christianity
