Usually its in the morning when I wake up, but tonite I was getting it after two beers. I'm only 21 so I've been drinking heavy on weekends for about five years only.

Acid reflux is typically caused in one of two ways: too much stomach contents causing a back-up into the esophagus or a relaxation of the muscles allowing the contents to spill into the esophagus. If you get acid reflux while standing or sitting, the first cause is most likely. If you only get acid reflux when lying down the second cause is more likely.

How much do you eat before you drink? What do you eat? High protein and fatty foods are harder to digest requiring more stomach acid and increasing the probability of acid reflux. Alcohol is a depressant. It may be relaxing your muscles to the point that they just can't keep the stomach contents in the stomach. If you've been doing this for years there may be some significant damage to the ability of the muscles to stay contracted.

Give up alcohol and food for at least two hours before bed time and see if that helps.

Lighten up DUDE!! You're too young to be destroying your body that way!! Don't drink so much!! You will get to the point you can't drink anything carbonated or alcoholic. It's better to drink lighter and enjoy it for later in your life than drink like fish now and not be able to drink at all in five years.

For acid reflux try over the counter Ranitidine (same thing as Zantac, generic, just cheaper) Get the store brand. Don't eat or drink at least two hours before going to bed. Raise the head of your bed a few inches, let's gravity keep it all down.

Your sphincter muscle at the base of your esophagus just at the top of your stomach is not closing properly, allowing acids from your stomach to rise up the esophagus. Taking Ranitidine and raising the head of your bed, stop eating before bedtime and lightening up on the guzzling brew will help. ....Good Luck♣
