"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
Faith is what is valueable about reading and hearing the Bible.

Some years ago, there was a "hot" program about reading the Bible through in a year - about 7 chapters a day mixed between OT'NT. My mother sent me the pamphlet and challenged me to try it.
12 years later, I'm still reading the Bible through - twice a year. The books have become good friends. I underline the things God has done. I circle the names of God. etc. Ths morning in Jhn 4, I found something I had never seen before.
Reading the Bible is like reading love letters or reliving precious memories. Reading the Bible can lead you to memorization for those desperate times when you need but don't have a Bible. knowing the 23rd Psalm is helpful when someone is dying in front of you, believe me. Psalm 121 is a blessing when you are going into cancer surgery, again, believe me.
The value of reading the Bible - its the owner's manual.

The Bible is the Word of God. Are you asking what is the value of listening to what God has to say??? People spend much money to get educated under wise men and sit and listen to them, and as Jesus said "someone greater than them" is here.

When you read the Bible and meditate on the Scriptures and apply them to your daily life you learn how to walk according to the will of our Creator. You learn why you are here, why the world is the way that it is, and what your purpose is here as you look forward to the new Heaven and Earth to come.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
Proverbs 1:1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, 3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth-- 5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6 to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The value is you can live your life to its fullest potential. Like health if you stay away from blood, and keep yourself clean not just hygiene but personal behavior and sex you will not get certain diseases.
If you are married, the bible has a lot on how to take care of your wife, and if a female how her role in the marriage contributes to peace and stability in the marriage.
and so on.

I have found that reading the bible I learn what God wants us to do willingly. Many people take one verse and run amuck with it. I myself have made that mistake in the past. Now I know that by reading the bible and finding out what was meant by different verses(research) that what I thought was totally wrong. God dosent force us to do his will, he wants us to do it because we love him. Had I not read the bible I wouldnt know how much we are loved by God. He sent his son to SAVE us. I know what is happening right now with these wars is in the book of revelations. Check it out for yourselves. Read the book of John. Read the book of Revelations. By reading the bible we learn to trust in God, and to have the faith to believe him, not just in him.

You won't know until you try it. I would start in John's Gospel.
If the Bible truly is the inspired word of God, you had better read--and heed--it.

Ah...well...everything we know about Jesus is found in the Bible. And, since He has influenced all of subsequent history, it would be smart to know about Him, don't you think? He was/is the greatest Teacher in all of history.
For Christians, it is a source of teaching, reproof, correction and instruction. It is also a source of comfort. It is spiritual sustenance and aids believers in the maturing process for believers.
