Although it might mentally help you (numbing down what you think) whiskey really won't have any effect on removing the cold/flu. It'll probably make you feel a little better, as most alcohol does.

Alcohol in any form (Beer/lager or spirit as in whisky) actually reduces the blood temperature by a few degrees despite its "warming" effect. it also leads to dehydration as the liver reconverts the alcohol back into sugar.

It has the greatest impact on the body at altitude this is why the advice is not to drink much when flying. If you do you should drink water also to combat the dehydration effect it will have on your body.

There is no known cure for a common cold, but many things can be used as relief of the symptoms of the cold. Some of these do not include alcohol, but if it makes you feel better then why not have a shot of it, you won't lose any thing by having a shot or two it is when you go beyond the shot or two that you will be affected.
As for flu, again it will relieve the symptoms but will rarely cure it.

You could try a good Irish coffee 1 part Irish Whiskey (Whiskey has two spellings Whiskey (Irish version) and whisky Scottish version) 4 parts hot black coffee (sugar to taste if you wish but not necessary) and 1.5 parts of lightly whipped cream poured gently over the back of a spoon to rest on top of the coffee underneath. Drink and enjoy. This will warm you and make you feel good.

I hope you feel better soon.

I am mostly a non-drinker but I have a hot whiskey when I have a cold. The recipe is a double measure in a tumbler, topped up with off-the-boil water. (keep a steel spoon in the glass to take the heat) Add a generous slce of lemon studded with Cloves. Depending on how bad I feel, I take one or two of these before going to bed and then I sweat the cold out over-night.

Mind you, I haven't had a cold or sniffle in three years and I think its down to Vit C. I drink green tea every day with a slice of lemon or lime in it and I feel great. Best thing I ever did was give up coffee and regular tea.

Now everyone can cure infertility using this natural remedy http://pregnancyhelps.info
infertility can run in the family and one of the first things the doctor asks you when you go to a fertility clinic is your family history regarding cases of infertility or other reproductive issues.
If infertility is caused by genetic disorder then it's not unusual that one of the kids (your mom) doesn't have it and another does (your aunt).
two months of trying is still to early to be concerned about the fact that you might be infertile and it's also quite early to go to a fertility specialist. Go to a regular Obgyb to get a closer insight and see what ways there are are to improve your fertility rate.
Also remove alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes from your life because they might influence your chances too. Stress is also a risk factor when it comes to infertility.

Do you mean if you HAVE a cold? If so, no. Colds and flu bugs cause dehydration. Alcohol also leads to dehydration. If you do, your cold will harder to recover from.

And no, it doesn't warm you up either, although you don't tend to notice the cold air some much :P

Old wives tale................not true whatsoever!

In fact alcohol thins the blood thus resisting your bodies ability to warm itself. The warming effect is simply due to a slight case of inebriation.

Your thirst is due to sweat and dehydration, thus you crave fluids. Best to drink Gatorade or Powerade to restore the electrolytes and lost potassium.

Old folks and Grandma always used a stick of peppermint in a shot of moonshine, (vodka nowadays) to break up the congestion and the alcohol just sorta numbed the discomfort.

Thus most cold remedies contain 10% alcohol.

Try a blanket and some NyQuil...............

Actually, a hot toddy (tea with a splash of whiskey) is my family's favorite cold remedy. Theoretically, it was supposed to relax your muscles so you'd stop coughing. That probably didn't happen, but it did help us fall asleep when we were just too uncomfortable and cough-y to do so.
