My soon to be ex has a weird attatchment to his mother. It is to the point that it is unhealthy. It has effected our relationship and had a big reason why I filed for divorce. How common is this kind of relationship between Mother an sons?

She controls his life. His relationships, thoughts and finaces. She pays all the bills and holds his business in the palm of her hand. He has no clue to what reality is anymore. She runs his life. He hates it, but cannot seem to break the ties he has with her.

It is very disturbing.

She is very critical of him. She is belittling and cruel, but claims to love him and he is insane about her. He doesnt want to be in her grasp but he is not breaking away.

This is not normal at all and I certainly understand it to an extent, my ex was a whimp when it came to his mom and also his dad.

It is not common and he needs to take action to end the control and manipulation. This is abuse. But, only he can take action, he's a big boy and needs counseling.

Since you have now filed for divorce, be happy, it isn't your problem any more.

Sure, I can relate, too. But why MIL's act that way...I have no clue. What can ya do? Ok, enough rhyming. If ya can't beat 'em, then find someone to listen to you bad mouth them. That makes ME feel better.
