Hi there.
My dog was neutered about 6 weeks ago and the vet told me he gave him disintegrating stitches so they won't have to be removed; however, tonight i noticed my dog has been nibbling down there and when I looked, I saw some stitches sticking out. Is this uncommon to take this long?

if you are worried about it go back to the vet that neutered the dog. there are many types of suture material that can be used and depending on what they used it can take up to 6 months for it to dissolve. the dog might be having a suture reaction which is not uncommon. if this was my dog i would have it checked out. they might have to go back in and remove the sutures and use something else . i have worked in the veterinary field for many years and hav seen this before.

Dissolvable sutures can take over 6 months to disolve. Unless your dog is picking at the surgery site excessively, there is no cause for concern. If the area looks red. swollen or you notice a discharge, then you should be concerned and get him in to see the vet.

Um sorry I think that the only way to get rid of it is to pick it up. But I know how you feel It's every dog owner's dream to have something that will magically get rid of all the poo in your yard. But if you are going to just go and pick it up put plastic bags over your shoes , and tie it up. This way you won't step in anything. :)
