I think they kept going in circles.

After the 40th time they passed the same burnt shrub, someone probably elbowed Moses and asked if he could check out what was over that hill ahead on the left. That's when they found the promised land.

Moses could have taken those Children of Israel out of the desert any time he wanted to, but they were made to wander in the wilderness for those 40 years because of their wickedness and the next generations had to be raised before they could leave the desert. It was due to the rebellion and worshipping the idols while Moses was on Mt. Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments
Moses was obedient and a dedicated prophet of God, and he did what he was commanded to do... Thus the 40 years sojourn .....

Moses replaced into the final chief interior the historic previous of the Jewish faith. How ought to he have been a failure? If it wasn't for Moses, who knows what destiny the Jewish people might have confronted. He replaced right into a "Tzadik" (fantastically righteous). just to succeed in this status is considered a fulfillment. How this pertains to Israel at the instant: "we are a stiffnecked people", properly this is an identical. the % for a frontrunner like Moses is everpresent, and looking out a non violent answer with regard to the Palestinian conflict seems in basic terms as complicated as looking the promised land.

you never read the story of Kaddish Barnea

The real reason is unbelief at Kaddish Barnea. God told them to spy the promised land, the land they were supposed to enter... they sent 12 spies and 10 said no, tooo tough, no can do... two said go!!! only Joshua and Caleb said they could take the land... the others said there were giants in the land and getting to the promised land wasn't gunna happen... they didn't believe in the giant GOD

because they spied the land in doubt for 40 days , God punished them by letting them wander for 40 years. They wandered the land until everyone over 20 at the time of Kaddish Barnea died and only Joshua and Caleb of the generation entered the land when they crossed over Jordan 40 years later.

its in the book... but it raises and interesting point... the entire generation of adults including Moses that received the Law from Mt Sinai died in the dessert They had the law direct from the mountain and they knew it. They crossed the sea. They ate manna. They saw the plagues... and in their human weakness they failed... Only two guys entered the promised land from thet generation and in the end that was done BY FAITH... it's the same today... we dintt enter the promised land of salvation by our works in our strength we enter it BY FAITH.. the worlds follow but only as a fruit of the faith... its all grace and mercy

Did you read the story, at ALL?
Moses was their earthly leader, but it was God who lead the children of Israel with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
The Israelites were following God, albeit reluctantly. Murmuring and complaining as they went along, in spite of seeing miracles performed daily, it took 40 years for that first generation to die off, and it was their children who entered the Promised Land with Joshua leading them.

If you look at maps scholars have made it shows the Israelites doing a couple of loops in the Sinae penisula. Your also talking about moving a whole race thousands of miles on foot. There were those who doubted Moses but they usually ended up getting killed by God. And they were also being punnished.

They were being punished for their idolatry. When Moses went up the mountain to receive the law from God, the Hebrews turned on God and worhipped a man made idol. For this reason, God kept them in the desert until the guilty generation had died out.

He told them this. They knew why they were out there.

If you would read the BOOK (rather than just watch some movie), you would know they could have made the journey in just a relatively few days ... but because of their disobedience God required them to WANDER for forty years until the next generation was ready to enter the Promised Land.

no way. not even 25 years. a walk from Egypt to Canaan even in those days shouldn't have taken more than 15-20 DAYS. one can only imagine that God had those silly Israelites following the pillar of fire and the pillar of smoke around the desert in circles.

It took 40 years for the old Egyptianized Israelites to die out and be replaced by the new "Yawehized" Israelites.

Only then were they ready to enter the Promised Land.

Only 2 out of around 1,000,000 of the original Israelites actually made it.

I hope the batting average for those who actually get to heaven today is better than that.
