Japanese researchers discover dolphin with "remains of legs"

TOKYO (AP) _ Japanese researchers said Sunday that a bottlenose dolphin captured last month has an extra set of fins that could be the remains of back legs, providing further evidence that ocean-dwelling mammals once lived on land.
Fishermen captured the four-finned dolphin off the coast of Wakayama prefecture (state) in western Japan on Oct. 28, and alerted the nearby Taiji Whaling Museum, according to museum director Katsuki Hayashi.
Fossil remains show that dolphins and whales were four-footed land animals about 50 million years ago and share the same common ancestor as hippos and deer. Scientists believe they later transitioned to an aquatic lifestyle and their hind limbs disappeared.
Though odd-shaped protrusions have been found near the tails of dolphins and whales captured in the past, researchers thought it was the first ...

It goes against everything Creation teaches. So they will mock you for suggesting differently.

Personally I find the article fascinating, but then I subscribe to evolution.

Wow! I would have thought whales were more related to a predatory animal, like a bear, not a hippo. I figured predation on fish is what might have lead it into the water. But hippo makes a lot of sense! Interesting! It says they share a common ancestor, was it predatory? I just think its interesting how one common ancestor can give rise to both a vegetarian like the hippo and fish eaters like dolphins and whales. The dolphin stuff is pretty well known, through fossil history mainly. A live dolphin with these extra fins is something new though. Living history! Do you have pics?

FACT IS, IT IS STILL A BOTTLE-NOSED DOLPHIN. It is a genetic abnormality. The artlicle specifies that it is the species bottle nose dolphin. There have been abnormalities with humans. This does not make them a different species. The whole concept with MACRO-EVOLUTION is that a species evolves into a new species. This is why the "evolutionists" can't establish a "fact" of evolution. Nice try though. This is just another ASSUMPTION by evolutionists.

as far as I am concerned How God did it is not going to be revealed untill the end... God is not bound by man's lack of understanding of God's science... I am, in my own mind, convinced that God did indeed use some form of "evolution" to bringabout the developed animals we know today... and what he did before placing mankind on earth is his business... he has left us some intreging clues... shure makes for interesting study... But I see no need to get all in a hissy about any great theologicval signifigance to the finding that dolphens had legs...it dose not apply to man.

Creationists are just going to come up with some lame excuse like "Evolution is fake, I know because I read it in this book". Don't waste your time.

Not much. I once went to a freak show at the carnival and saw a cow with six legs. That doesn't mean that all cows, years ago, had six legs, ....or fins.

I think the only opinion they'll have is 'thumbs down'. Pity.

it is impossible for animals to completely evolve into a new species. for that to happen, they'd have to magically acquire new genes from somewhere else.
