Wouldn't try for more than 2 lbs a week - keep in mind its the holiday season and there will be more tempting goodies that will be put before you whether you like it or not - so 2 lbs a week is a safe goal and one that won't set you up for dissapointment and/or failure. 2 years ago I dropped 2 lbs a week between Halloween and Christmas - it wasn't easy but I was glad to face the New Year feeling good and on track.

I think you should safely lose a pound a week by eating smaller portions and maybe changing your exercise routing. Try eating your biggest meal and lunch time instead of in the evening. Don't be a couch potato after you eat, go for a walk. If you are really serious, go out for a 20 minute jog. I find jogging better that any exercise I ever tried with faster results.

About three pounds a week is a safe amount. If you lose anymore than that, you'll only gain it back again. There is 7 weeks before Christmas so no more than 21 pounds. :)

Depends really on how much you weigh, and what that weight consists of. It also depends on what you're planning on doing to loose weight. Excerise is the best and healthiest way, you may be frustrated in the beginning, but just keep excercising on a regular basis. No need to starve yourself, just start out with long walks and then when you're ready, begin jogging.

If you seriously worked at it, like worked out and changed your eating habits, you could lose 5 pounds a week.
It's more likely that you could lose 2 or 3 pounds a week.
In any case, good luck and congrats on deciding to lose weight!

SAFELY == Between 21-25 pounds.
That is averaging around 3 pounds a week.

If you do it in a healthy way; eat good foods, watch portions, no goodies or sodas, etc. and don't forget to drink lots of water and exercise. I have heard that a good weight loss is 2 lbs. per week. This way, you are still eating healthy and not starving, this will really mess up your metabolism.

depends on how much you weigh now. There is no way to answer that without knowing your health and current weight. Ask a doctor.
