Im 22, and the past 9 months have had no love life, well a serious love life.

I find no motivation to seek out a girlfriend, nor seek out a sexual relationship. Infact im still a virgin. I find my interests are more in the fact of training and becoming healthy as well as my academic schedule taking precendence over both.

I've heard the tale "don't look for her, because she'll find you." I'm also a romantic living in a capitalist society, I know for a fact that if I take care of my school now it will take care of me later.

I've had many an opportunity to spark a budding relationship. I never pursued after it since it just didn't feel right.

I do want my soul mate though, she just hasn't come along yet. It can suck being lonely though, a woman offers so much, in the respects of support, love, inspiration, and most importantly companionship.

Im just curious, anybody else been in this very same boat?

You are making choices. That's good.
Keep your eyes open, though, because good opportunities come when they come. I had a real good one at age 21. Missed her narrowly - my fault.
I am 57, and think about her very often.
Plans are nice, and neccessary, but even a stone cold business plan needs updating, and sometimes a paradigm shift.
Don't let them slip away - sometimes it doesn't come again.

School shouldn't be the only thing in your life right now. You're young you need to date. It's a part of life that you need to fill. Dating gets you on the track of finding that special someone. Don't get me wrong school is important and you should succeed in it, but by the way it sounds, you're a very sweet, attractive person. You sound like the kind of guy I've been looking for. Dating will feel right if you find the right person. So get out there and meet some new people, you'll have fun. ;)

You said you've heard the tale "of not looking...", but it's true. I met my now hubby when I was 20 and I'd not dated anyone before I met him, sadly I made a bad mistake and dated someone else before him, but he was there for me the whole time. It's also true the best relationships come out of friendships. You never know your soul mate could be right under your nose and you don't know it. It's very admirable that you're motivated to have a career. It will happen, trust me.

You only get more freedom with your job if your job is good and allows it. If your job sucks, and you need to work 45 hours a week to make it, then no it's not better. At least with school you are guaranteed at least *some* days off with holidays. A lot of companies don't close on holidays and some people can never take time off when they want. School is way better than work, unless you have a really good job you like.

I was in the same boat, but I realized I was young and had plenty of time. Sometimes I think our urges to find someone come from societal demands to be "normal." Enjoy being single and do what you need to do with your life or you will never find happiness in a relationship. There is still plenty of time.

Good for you for focusing on the important stuff. If you're not motivated to find a girlfriend, why bother? Wait until you are motivated to try. I'd take everything else over a love life, myself.

There comes a point in most ppl's lives where they aren't interested in sex, and / or love. It's good time to focus on you, and have fun. You can still want a soul mate i nthe future, but right now it should be "me" time.

hell I hadnt wanted anything to do with dating for about four years...it happens. But while you should keep your eyes open, if you get desperate about finding a woman they will be able to smell that on you...
