Most commonly boys learn that from daddy. They watch, they listen, they learn. If dad doesn't respect women, Jr. won't. Also, it is cultural - a real low point in any culture, one that should be jettisoned by thinking adults. But, "tradition" is so romantically looked at by dreamers that they garner respect for even the worst traits of their culture. It is the parent(s) who bring up boys to be tough, strong, manly and aggressive. Any man who can defend that kind of rearing of a child will lose the debate.
The sad part is that men who abuse women - or weaker people in general - do not change. If you have taken your new insight to heart, congratulations. You will have to actively keep it in check for the rest of your life. It's okay to blame the men in your life as you were growing up;

Hey, don't go shootin' all the dogs just 'cause some got fleas. Men don't treat women poorly, boys do. You seem to have recognized the error of your ways, you are, or have become - a man. Welcome. Continue to be one, and don't ever treat women poorly again.
