Most will say they believe that God exists, they believe this is sufficient to be a 'Christian'...clearly this isn't enough!
In the New Testament, it states you must be 'Born Again' to be a 'True Believer'...this means you MUST repent for your sins and ask Jesus into your heart. So if there are so many who believe in God, why are they (maybe you?) embarrassed by the bible, by attending church, and by the mention of Jesus's name?

Christians I believe do not understand the bible well as many deficiencies are being pointed not and that is why they are embarrassed What is the meaning of BORN AGAIN mean – Simply that you are now understanding the difference between right and wrong. Why ask Jesus to come into your heart. So that he can guide your way hence forth. You can not repent for your sins and go and commit them again. That is not the way. God is alone He has no out line no color he is pure brilliant light and he does not have a Wife. So Jesus cannot be His Son

It says a lot in the Bible, sadly little of it is about Jesus Christ, however he did say something in hebrew which translates into 21st century robust industrial English, look lads when 3 or more of you get together and have a few bevvies, drink one in remembrance of me, and when you have a snack together remember me, Jesus did not support organised religion in the manner of Synagogues or Cathederals, so attending Church is not the action of a true believer., much of the Bible is embarassing but only the 4 Gospals are directly applicable to Christianity.

I'm embarrassed by the way people miss use the bible. But just believing in a god being of any kind, or believing in "god" as you would state it doesn't mean that a person is christian. They're likely embarrassed by the bible, attending church and the mention of Jesus' name for the same reason I am. It disgusts me how people missuse them for their own purposes. Wanna start a war? Use religion. Want to make sure that homosexuals don't have the rights that everyone is supposed to have, as it is a free country, not a "men are better than women" or "lets keep slaves" country, use religion. It's what everyone else does.

Extremism and the spouting of fanatics. The Christian churches are emptying and it is mostly down to the extremists within!!

The Evangelical Alliance has even recently suggested taking up violence against the state!!!!!

The way Christian extremists are going it will not be long before they drive Christianity underground. Certainly there will almost certainly have to be laws to protect the general public against their dogmatic persecution of anyone who does not believe!

You are causing damage to Christianity. Pray for guidance and forgiveness!

Interesting question. I am Christian, but I am embarrassed for what 'Christianity' stands for. To be exact, I am Catholic and I think this might already give you a hint where I am heading to. For me Jesus and his teachings are not embarrassment, but life guidance and I feel safe with them. But. I believe Catholic Church leaders have manipulated the Bible, have manipulated the masses (here we cannot argue, right), have done mistakes (even huge ones) in the history, have done injustice, nowadays they are not 'user friendly' (my opinion), they do mistakes (such as paedophilia), and as such I am sorry I do not agree with them being representatives of my Jesus. Therefore I am embarrassed of my Church, of what my 'Christianity' stands for. Therefore I have quit going to my Catholic Church, found one in the nature, in my heart, I am trying to live by Jesus's words and the source is my heart. If he said be modest, love others,.., then I do that and not because Church needs to tell me that.

Luke 9:26 says that if we are ashamed of Christ and His words (in other words, if we do not want to be identified as Christians, or if we don't mind being Christians but don't want to obey Jesus' teaching), then He will be ashamed of us before God the Father.

One summary (amongst several) of Jesus' teachings is
Love all, forgive all, show mercy, judge no-one

the word christian has been watered down so much by society and new comers. Many spiritual people who are not christian profess to be, without understanding that christian and Jesus go hand in hand. Many of these new age thinkers believe Jesus is a wise man not part of the Godhead. Which by that alone they nullify themselves as christians

If that is true, than its a good question, why?

Jesus said that if we would not acknowledge Him before men, He would not acknowledge us before His Father in Heaven.

I am one Christian who is NOT embarrassed at all by my Church or my God. I love my Bible and firmly believe that it holds all the answers to our questions about God.

As Paul said, I will say as well......I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation, first for the Jew and than for the Gentile.
