It could last several weeks. Call your vet, tell them what is going on, and they'll set up an appointment for her once it's safe. And congrats on being a responsible owner and having her fixed! :)

Hi ,her heat will only last about a week ,also its about time that you can get her spayed , as a small dog they don't bleed that much and the bleeding only last about 2-3 days of the week ,, she will stay swollen for one more week after, keep her away from any other male dogs and now that she is in heat she will be looking for a mate too, sometimes when a dog is in heat they run away so,, just keep her in sight,,in about 3 weeks time her cycle should be completely over ,,, give a vet in your area a call,, so that you can always ask them for more info if needed..
good luck

A heat cycle lasts about 3 weeks. The bleeding usually occurs the second weeks. Most vets will spay even when the dog is in heat but it usually costs more.

My moms chihuahua went into heat and she kept her up for 28 day to make sure she wouldn't get pregnant.
Spaying at six months is often recommended before a female begins to enter sexual maturity.
Some vets will spay younger and spaying of puppies as young as eight weeks old who are up for adoption in shelters is becoming more popular. While I can't honestly think of a substantial reason NOT to spay before the first cycle it is thought that spaying before it will lower the long-term risks of other health problems.
Here is some information the estrous cycle.
The female heat generally occurs twice a year. The female dog will undergo a cyclical rhythm of reproductive function called the estrous cycle. Each dog has her own normal cycle that, once established, tends to repeat itself. Proestrus is the time during which a bloody discharge first appears at the vulva of the female. During this stage the follicles from which the ova are produced are growing. Proestrus usually lasts about 6-11 days and can last up to twenty-eight days. It's end is marked by the acceptance of the first male. Estrus is the period which the female is sexually receptive and breeding can occur. Many females continue bleeding throughout estrus, but some do not. Ovulation usually occurs about twenty-four hours after the first acceptance of a male. (about 10-11 days after the onset of bleeding). Ova survive and are capable of being fertilized for at least four days following ovulation. Estrus lasts about 5-9 days and can last up to 28 days.

The entire cycle lasts about three weeks. I would make sure to keep her locked up the whole time. There are theoretically times when she can and can't be bred, but nature isn't on a perfect day by day and time by time clock. She can be spayed during heat, but it can have complications. Therefore, you might want to call the vet and arrange to have her spayed about a week after she goes out of season. This gives her body time to get back to normal.

The finest to diagnose a urinary tract an infection is urine subculture from a sterile accrued urine pattern, it really is why the fee is somewhat larger than the urinalysis. a pair different issues i visit imagine of might want to be inflammatory cystitis which may be linked with pressure, or bladder stones. A a lot less in all chance component might want to be if she became nearing a warmth cycle and what's left of the uterus is involuting. She must have a urinalysis, and if there is indication for subculture, commence there. A unmarried belly Xray might want to even see a bladder stone or an ultrasound. If the spay is linked with it really is puzzling to assert, you are able to communicate this such as your clinical specialist. even if it really is an infection she will be able to wish antibiotics and prepared on it may bring about kidney an infection and a lengthy stay i the clinical institution. good luck

it sounds like her first heat this one will last about a week then she will go back into heat for about 3 weeks, during the 2nd week is when she can get pregnant so be careful, she is way to young to have puppies it could kill her. A dog can be spayed or neutered as early as 4 months but since she is in heat you will have to wait for that to end then make an appointment for her.

It varies some from dog to dog, but it should last about 1 week. You can get her spayed while she's in heat, but vets charge extra. You can, however, take her in as soon as she's completely finished her cycle. In the meantime, keep a close eye on her when she's outside.

The bleeding usually lasts 7-10 days. Please keep her seperated from any males for at least 3 weeks so there are no accidental breedings. Wait until about 2 weeks after her cycle ends and then have her spayed.
