I had a Tuna sandwich and a Greek Salad at Panera yesterday. The salad had alot of dressing on it and as I ate, I kept thinking that the dressing seemed way too acidic and tart. As I left the restaurant, I kept feeling a weird sensation in mouth, like a huge mouth ulcer developing. By the time I got home (15 minutes later), it felt as if my mouth were burning. I rinsed with fresh, cool water and drank 2 glasses of water also. The inside of my upper and lower lips were bright red and becoming very painful. Today it seems worse. It hurts to eat or brush my teeth. Although there are no mouth ulcers, the entire inside of my mouth is very red and sore. The only thing that I can think is that I must have had a severe allergic reaction to a chemical preservative in the salad dressing.
Has anyone experinced this? Does anyone know what I could do?

IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A VERY LIKELY ALLERGIC REACTION OCCURRED, WHICH WAS FURTHER AGGRAVATED BY THE ACIDITY OF THAT DRESSING. FOR THE ALLERGIC REACTION TAKE SOME BENADRYL AVAILABLE AS OTC AT THE PHARMACY. FOR IMMEDIATE RELIEF, IF THIS EVER HAPPENS, RINSE BUT DO NOT SWALLOW WITH MILK.

You have had an allergic reaction to something you ate. Rinse with a little baking soda if there are no blisters. That might neutralize the acids. Dont swallow it. A topical throat spray might help. If it doesnt get better see you dentist.

I would call my family Dr. immediately OR go to ER. Throat swelling and inability to swallow may occur next. If you want to take a chance ,get some Benadryl pills at the local drugstore .Good luck.
