The 'old' Napster was not legal but the 'new' current version of Napster is a pay service that is quite legal.

Yes Napster is now legal. The music costs (usually about .90cents per song), and you are free to burn and transfer to iPods and such. However the music is covered by DRM (Digitaly Registered Music), so it can only be transfered so many times!

Yes, they no longer offer free downloads of copyright music.. Those days are long in the past.
