I don't know which is true. If you have heard of the theory that history before writing was invented, people learned through stories. Well the bible is a series of stories that have been passed down through the years. Who's to say that some of it isn't true? Also who's to say that the Big Bang theory never happened.

The big bang theory was formulated on the basis of the red shift observed in the spectrum of some stars suggesting they are moving away from a central point in the universe. Back in the 80's, however, it was discovered that the red shift can occur due to many other causes outside star movements.
In other words, the big bang is pretty much a wash out so there is no point in trying to reconcile it with anything.

I think its just an attempt by the faithful to hold onto their superstitions.
Think about it. When the rules change for science, the end result changes as well. When the rules change for religion, the answer stays the same, usually accompanied by a comment along the lines of "That's what we meant, we just didn't know it for the 2000 years we had the bible's account."
BTW: When speaking technically, theory doesn't mean guess, it means answer backed up by proof.

What's interesting is that the Bible said that the universe had a beginning but for years scientist claimed that it always existed. But when they discovered that the universe is expanding (another fact found in the Bible) they realized there had to be a beginning thus the Big Bang theory.
ISN'T IT GREAT WHEN SCIENCE FINALLY CATCHES UP WITH THE TRUTH OF SCRIPTURE!

I agree.
But I do wonder about the big bang theory.
I have a different belief. I find the expanding and contracting theory more persuasive. that is where the universe starts as one big mass as in the big bang theory then explodes, expands but then contracts again into that same one mass again then explodes again repeating the cycle.
They say our universe is very young. I just find the odds that we are the first to be born in a relatively new creation hard to believe.

The bible is a book of stories from the past. This book really has nothing to do with the world long and short coming of creation.

A) the big bang theory is just that: a THEORY. B) It sounds all nice and warm-fuzzy, but IMO, it's just another way for scientists to keep the angry mobs off their backs and/or to "hedge their bets" once they die...or so they think! The two theories together make no more sense than apart...but if combining them makes YOU feel good, go for it!

I have no problem with those who believe in the big bang. The scripture says God spoke and the world began. This time science seem to match up with what science preaches... Jim
