The capstan and pinch-roller needs cleaning or the belt that drives the take-up real is off/broken. You'll have to take it apart or take it to someone.
Alcohol and Q-tpis will do the trick for the cleaning part.

they do make a tape playr cleaner if that dont work its best to just buy another player or upgrade to a cd player.

Rub something really bitter on one side of the tape, it'll be the last one your tapeplayer eats! Might teach him a lesson, too.

get a tape cleaner and try cleaning it, if that doesn't work you will have to take it to a radio shop for repair.

get a CD player with mp3-wma readability, they don't taste as good and are much harder to choke down.
