I've wondered since I was a kid but never wanted to ask the priests or nuns at Sunday school.

There are three beings in the Godhead. The Father is a glorified being of flesh and bone. His only begotten son in the flesh, Jesus, the Christ, is also a glorified being of flesh and bone. The Holy Ghost is a spirit being not having a physical body yet in order to be able to wield his influence on us as we ask for it. His job is to testify of the Father and the Son and to reveal truth to all of God's children as they humbly and faithfully ask for it. Since it is God's desire for all of His children to progress and return to His presence, it is the goal and function of the entire Godhead to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. It is my belief, not taught to me as such, that the Holy Ghost will receive His body during the Mellenium when Christ will be reigning personally on the earth and the Holy Ghost will not be needed as He is now.
Rest assured that the Godhead is composed of three distinct individuals that are unified in purpose. The Holy Ghost has a distinct function and needs to be a personage of spirit in order to fulfill that function.

The holy ghost or spirit is the communication link between you and God.

Some call it Divine or internal guidance.

It can be quite easily accessed through meditation.

You simply clear your mind and ask a question.

Many people can learn to do this rather quickly. For others it takes a while. The difficulty lies in the interpretation of the messages received. If one listens with preconceived notions they tend to skew what they are hearing in the direction of the preconception.

The only sure way to tell if what you are hearing is true is to understand that the holy spirit always gives loving guidance. That is the advice or guidance will always result in a positive outcome for all involved. If it takes advantage of anyone then it is the ego pretending to be the holy spirit.

There is a book called the course in miracles that teaches you exactly how this connection is made. Thousands have had success by using it.

Love and blessings Don

As catholics we believe that God is one God, but in three forms, Father, Son and Holy Spirit/Ghost. Sort of like water, can be liquid, solid or gas. They're all the same thing, but different forms. God is omnipresent, but is present in these different forms.. 2000 years ago, God became man, in the form of the Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, who was made pregnant by the power of the Holy Ghost. The holy Ghost is always present on earth until the end of time. The holy Ghost is simply God in spirit form. This is a matter of faith. You definitley should ask your priest this question, as he can probably give a more thorough and accurate explanation than I just did. It's not a stupid question if that's what you're worried about.

The Holy ghost is the spirit of the Lord. There is no Ghost as such.It is a Christian thing to describe the Trinity. The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. You see there are no Ghosts that exist today so there is no question of a Holy Ghost appearing from some place as it has no role to play

The Holy Ghost is the third person of the Trinity, that being the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit is who conceived Jesus in Mary's womb, who descended on Jesus at His baptism. Jesus spoke of "the comforter" who will come and dwell in the hearts of the saints. After His death, the Spirit did enter the apostles and enable them to speak in tongues at Pentacost. Upon salvation, the Holy Spirit enters every believer and dwells in them, offering them gifts and guiding them to do God's will.

So, ask a pastor, minister, priest, or nun!

The Holy Ghost is God.

There is only ONE God. God is SPIRIT, pure Spirit. He has revealed Himself as eternally existing as three "persons".

Genesis 1:2 -- the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

It was the Spirit Who empowered the early Church and is the One Who is the Enabler (the Paraclete) of the Church through this age.

The holy ghost is really God's active force which he uses to teach and reveal himself to all who have the right heart condition. He used it to create everything, beginning with the spirit creature who eventually became the man, Jesus Christ.

He is part of the Holy Trinity. God in three persons-- God, the Father, God the Son, God, the Holy Spirit...

Jesus said when you become a born again Christian, has asked forgiveness and turn away from your sins and you let Him come to your heart and make Him your Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit will come to reside in you. The Holy Spirit will teach you about God's Truth. He will be your comforter, your guide and the Holy Spirit will bring to God our prayers. The Holy Spirit of God in us is the One hearing us, listening to us and helping us to grow in our faith in God. The Holy Spirit opens our minds to the Scriptures in the Holy Bible and gives us wisdom and discernment about the true nature of God.
