my girlfriend and i are having some hard times. we recently moved to a city about 3 hours from my home town. i left all my friends, my family, everything, to be with her while shes going to school. there were some rumors going around about some stuff that i really dont want to talk about, but anyway lately i have been feeling really bad. i have lower back pain, headaches, and tooth aches. i feel really out of place alot. im irritable, and i just dont know whats wrong. i just do nothing all day and i have no desire to do anything. all i want to do, is lay in bed. if you have any information or guidance please help.
i would appreciate answers that are helpful. if you dont know what you are talking about please dont waste my time.
thanks.

I went through the same thing myself, kind of. My marriage broke up,my oldest kid has cancer, and I just had to put my dog to sleep. I know you've probably heard this a million times, but, find a therapist.Preferably a woman, they're more willing to listen and talk.
I've been seeing one for about 6 months now. I take 30mg of Prozac daily, and 10mg of Valium at night for sleep. I know that Prozac has a bad rep, but beleive me, it's done wonders for me. No more depression, no more suicidal thoughts, just living one day at a time and feeling pretty good. Feel free to write me with any questions about this. My name is Terry,male,45 years old.
My email is tdon61@yahoo.com, I know how you feel, it sucks. But there is help. Terry

Yes, you have classic symptoms of depression. First of all talk to your girlfriend and let her know how you feel. You need to make a decision about whether staying in the city is really a good decision for you. If she loves you enough, she will understand. Secondly, get counseling or see a doctor, there are many good , effective medications that can help you. If you don't have insurance there are often clinics that will charge on a sliding scale. Also drug companies have programs that can help you get your meds at little or no cost to you. Even if you love your girlfriend very much, staying in this situation could be harmful to you and your relationship.

Yes, you do have situational type depression. Moving is traumatic; leaving friends, family, etc. You need to get yourself out and find a job. Laying around is making you feel worse because you are feeling sorry for yourself.
I suggest you take the first step to feeling better; find a counselor and begin to talk about what you are feeling. Go to a career counseling center (at the college where your gf is going to school maybe) and get some help finding out where you can work. Remember, 3 hours away from home is not far, doable on the weekends to keep in touch. It would be worse if you were much farther away and unable to visit on weekends, holidays, special ocassions.
Hang in there, you just need to get your priorities on track and motivate yourself to take the first step. Then, the other steps will come easier to you. Tell your gf how you are feeling too, ask for her support in this.

It does sound like you are depressed. I think the kinda person I am, I would probably feel the same as you do. If you really love this girl I would try to talk yourself into getting out of the house. Maybe go shoot some pool, Frisbee golfing, ect. Find a hobby and you will meet people. I think if you get out more then you will feel a lot better.

You are going through a major change in life and change doesn't always come easy.... Give things time and you will get in the swing of things.
As for the rumors. If that is what is haunting you then you need to find a way of resolving that. Either find out the truth, or try to find a way of letting it go.... don't let it eat you up. Life is too Short for that....
Good luck..

I hope I can help you since I have suffered from depression for over 10 years. What you are describing may be the first signs of depression. You might think about going and talking to your doctor and telling him these symptoms your having and he can refer you to someone who specializes in that field. I hope I helped. Good luck to you and God Bless.

I would tell your girlfriend about these rummors and see what her reaction is. Since you are in the city there will be more stress that normal.
Get the first problem out of the way, then do something about your city life.

You sound to me as if you are depressed...You don't have to feel this way...Doctors can help you a lot..almost over night to feel better...yes you use drugs for it ..but what the hell?...everyone needs a crutch now and then...and it works....make an appointment NOW and do something for yourself....trust me......I've been there, done that.
