hmmm...that's a tough one, I think I would want to tell her too, but that could cause big problems for your place of business...maybe talk to your manager about it and let him know your concern that even though no one likes this lady, that's just not right

I'd tell the restaurant owner. Those cooks should be fired. That bad karma might just come and spit in your food someday if you make the cooks mad...that's the most disgusting thing I've ever heard. I'm surprised you even have to ask.

Tell her. Absolutely tell her, Pleeeeeease. Spit/saliva carries so much bacteria but more importantly can actually transmit many different kinds of viruses that may inhabiting the body of those spitting. I know...kind of make you think about kissing, huh? :)
Anyway, it's the right thing to do which you obviously care about or you wouldn't be asking the question, right?
If you're still not sure, ask yourself this: Would you want someone to tell you if they knew someone else was spitting in your food? Might be gross to know but at least you'd be able to put a stop to it.
Cheers :)

I would tell someone about what the cooks are doing. You shouldnt let that go, even if the lady is rude. That is just wrong. You wouldnt want someone doing that to you. Those cooks dont need to be working there. Someone needs to know about this. I dont care if shes being rude or not, that is a really bad thing they are doing to her. Much worse than what shes doing to you guys.

No excuse for spitting in someone's food. She is in essence a paying customer. If she is obnoxious the manager can ask her to never come back. If anything, the manager needs to know that he has cooks spitting in customers' food. That is by far the egregious behavior.

I would tell managament.
Considering the woman's behavior, if you told her, whether she believed you or not, she would likely only be nastier to you. There's no responsibility on your part to put yourself through this.
However, there is a responsibility when you see other co-workers acting in an irresponsible manner. So let management know, and they will be the ones best equipped to take care of the problem.

You should stop being so nice to her and tell her she'll be removed from the premises if she doesn't shape up. The cooks are wrong to spit in her food, but, no offense, your tolerance is worse in my book. I'd not put up with her for a long time. She'll be lucky if I don't personally toss her against the garbage cans outside. I may be a jerk for saying that, but you're still being too nice.

As for the woman, talk to the manager about how to deal with the customer. As for the cooks, report them to the manager and/or the health department. And tell me the name of your restaurant so I will never eat there.

Even if she is a bothersome customer, two wrongs don't make a right. The spitting should be stopped. Be careful of the cook - if they find out you said something. What else will he/she do to you?

If she tripped someone on purpose, the manager should ask her not to come back to the restaurant. Spitting in her food is too passive-aggressive. Don't tell her, but PLEASE talk to to a manager about the problem.

Don't tell her! That's a law suit waiting to happen and a good way to lose your job. Do tell the manager though. No matter how rude or awful a customer is, there is no reason to contaminate their food. Tell your manager to take care of it, and if he doesn't, contact your local health department.
