I want to know who spent what when they redid their floors in carpet and do you think it was worth that price? I'm redoing my floors but don't know where to go. Just wanting testimonials I guess, or pointers...whatever.

I re carpeted 2 years ago. Now I am sorry I didn't do hard wood flooring. It would have cost MUCH more but I certainly wish I had gone ahead and done it.

Get three estimates on whatever you do.My friends Mother did her 3 and 2 house (all of it) in hardwood flooring and it was $16,000.00.)
That was some of the reason I didn't do ours.

Shop around.

How long are you going to keep the house?
I didn't do the hardwood floors because I had already invested $50,000. in renovations and we are going to sell.

I just couldn't decide what a new buyer would prefer.

Good Luck in your decision.

Dalton, Georgia is the carpet capital of the world. They have web info that may help you.
Prices vary state to state as does installation costs.
Buy the best carpet you can afford.

You need to decide on the type of carpet you want. Is it a more formal house? Casual? do you get a lot of traffic, kids, pets?
Plush, berber, loop, commercial grade, sisal, etc.
I'm a practical person and don't want a carpet that needs a lot of attention. I like lighter, neutral colors with texture and flecks. It does not show stains as quickly or traffic patterns.
The padding is important. But that depends on the style carpet you choose. The carpet stores will answer your questions but give them a list of what you like.
