You are the only one who can save your own self from hell. No one can pray you out of hell. You are the only one who can secure your own salvation through accepting Jesus as your personal savior. No one can do that for you. Once you are dead and you died lost and did not accept Jesus, you cannot be heard from the grave.

Psalms 30:9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

right here is yet in any different case of observing Purgatory. An analogy which will help you take care of what we recommend via Purgatory is the thought the "hearth" of Purgatory is somewhat the affection of God. certainly, precise understood, the "hearth" of Purgatory, the "hearth" of Hell, and the "hearth" of Heaven (for the OT speaks of Heaven as a "fiery" place particularly many times) is all, in certainty, the comparable hearth, that's the burning and unquenchable Love of Almighty God. And, observing the disposition of a soul on the time of dying, while each little thing else different than God is stripped faraway from them, the soul will the two be plagued via this "hearth" (i.e., Hell because of the fact the soul needs no longer something to do with God), or he would be purged of lingering sin via this "hearth" (Purgatory), or he would be able to unite with the "hearth" itself (Heaven), on account that the two the soul and the hearth proportion a undemanding Nature (2 Peter a million:4)--this is, the soul has already been converted right into a picture of Christ (a saint) only before dying. So, easily relies upon on the soul's disposition. Or, seem at it this way: If somebody is asleep in a dismal room, and somebody unexpectedly throws open the curtains to bare a colourful, sunny day, and if the guy has had a stable nighttime's sleep, and is able to awaken, he would be able to open his eyes and greet the morning solar without difficulty (i.e., Heaven). in spite of the undeniable fact that, if the guy is tormented by a terrible hold close-over and has had little or no sleep in any respect, he will cover his face decrease than the blankets and % no longer something to do with the solar (i.e., Hell). in spite of the undeniable fact that, if he's barely a splash hung-over, or nonetheless a splash sleepy, he would be able to open his eyes particularly—to tentatively seem on the solar, as he struggles to acclimate to the morning solar (i.e., Purgatory). In essence, it somewhat is all Catholicism is saying appropriate to the Afterlife, while a Christian ultimately sees the best fact, that's God. in the event that they think of approximately it, a Protestant does not have faith in any different case in any respect. It takes more than someone else praying for you and your soul to go to heaven. Their prayers can unlock the door. But you open it wide by confessing Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and asking Him to forgive your sins. Renouce all works of satan.

The Bible says that no man comes to the Father (God) unless they come by the Son (Jesus Christ.) The Bible also says that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

I pray that you find The Way.

I have very specific instructions for whoever gets the unpleasant job of seeing me through my final days: No artificial measures and no prayers of any kind, thank you very much.

But even if my wishes are ignored, it's no big deal since I'm gonna die anyway and I don't care what happens after that.

Maybe you should spend less time worrying about death and more time enjoying today -- it will never come again, you know.

Just in case? I hate when people ask this. You can't -force- yourself to believe something. I can't be sure that god is false, then be like "Oh, but please save me just in case you're real."
Your logic either tells you that it's true or false... Any type of god would know your true feelings, and would know that you didn't really believe.
So if I had a choice, I wouldn't ask for any prayer/pray for myself.

My beliefs aren't going to change on my deathbed. No prayer, no religion. If I'm wrong, and Christianity is true, and Heaven and Hell exist, all I ask is to have a word with God about a couple things before he damns me to eternal fire for never accepting Christ.

I would not want to be prayed over. I don't believe in a god, so it would make me uncomfortable to have this guy pray over me knowing that it's all for nothing. Just let me die.

I would find prayer offensive. Fortunately, I am not on close terms with anyone who would be that foolish.
