chocolate can be deadly. Xylitol diet candy or foods can be deadly. Milk is bad for kidneys believe it or not. Fish is ok but only 2-3 times a week or they have problems.
Grape jelly sugar can lead to obesity and thus to diabetes, trust me don't go there...
Good sourse for cat food feeding advice, even for healthy cats, is Felinediabetes.com (?.org?). Find the section on healthy cat foods and what to avoid. Cats in general: low carbs, high protien. Also, which she can be a bit rigid, Dr. Lisa Pierson is a vet with a good site on food for cats. Mine likes veggies, grape stems and leafy greens which makes since when you think about them chewing on grass in the wild.
Good luck!

fish, milk, chicken, meats. If your cat did fine with the grape jelly, that's sheer luck. It didn't hurt him, but why give it to him if it's not good for him either? If you want to "treat" your cat, buy some kitty treats which would be better then sugar.

One of my cats loved eating Raspberry jam from my toast. Sneaky little stinker started eating it when I wasn't looking. It didn't do anything to her, she was fine. Though I wouldn't suggest feeding your cats sugar added anything. The same cat liked fruit too, especially peeled grapes. She lived a long 19 years with us.

Cats don't usually like sweets. He was probably just curious. Some cats like pieces of cooked chicken (no bones) or a piece of roast meat or cooked hamburger. It should just be the meat, no onion ever - that's toxic for cats, ketchup and other condiments aren't a good idea either. Cats can sample most anything and of course it shouldn't be a lot of their "diet". My Kinsey likes to lick the milk at the bottom of my cereal bowl. I have heard of cats who like olives and cantaloupe. Chocolate should be avoided as it can be toxic in large doses.

we have 3 cats and here are a few things we've fed them...oh and i don't necessarily say any of this is good for them but from the smell of the wet food they eat i can't imagine it's any worse
they love bran cereal (in small amounts unless yu want a litter box explosion)
whipped cream
morning star farms veggie sausage
bread
soy crisps
olives (so i'm told never actually tried)
potatoes
chicken
cheese
anything carb based i'm pretty sure
happy feeding

Cats don't care for sweets. If your cat eats grape jelly, then that's a first!. Anyway, cats like seafood (Fish,Tuna, and will eat a Bird,if possible). If you feed your cat seafood, that's meant for humans, then your cat will end up "over weight". Our seafood has too much oil in it. It is best to feed your cat "catfood",because there is no oil in it,and specially bi-products just for cats.

I only give them little bits now and then but when I am having a sandwich I give them little bits of meat from it...one of my cats likes liver mush and eggs...it does not eat a whole lot of it...and cream cheese...and yogurt...it does not interfere with their regular food so I only give it to them as a rare now and then treat.

FYI : cats are lactose intolerant, so they CAN'T have milk. They do, however, make a special kind of milk for kittens that you can give to your cat. Because cats are carnivorous, their stomachs are not able to digest dairy products.

No nothing with sugar. It's best to stick with cat food only, but I did have one that liked a few green beans if they had a splash of gravy on them
