Kinda yes and kinda no...........It depends on the "unmarked" vehicle. Bottom line, if they are legite and have a ticket book they can cite you.

However, a car with no lights on top (what we refer to as a "slick top") is considered unmarked to some. Other cars will not have spot lights or pushbars, also making them look more like a normal or unmarked car. These cars CAN stop you IF you pull over. But you DO NOT have to yield to them!

In California the car must have markings identifyinf the agency, i.e. California Highway Patrol. They must also have a UNIFORMED officer. If a car "lights you up" without markings or a uniformed officer, you have the right not to stop. However if you have a cell phone you should call to report you are concerned about the vehicle trying to stop you. Either way, if you dont stop they will request a marked veicle with a uniformed offier and you will still be cited for the origianl traffic violation only.

It is advised you dont yield to a totally unmarked car and always request a marked car and uniformed officer deal with you. This is for safety as many impersonations happen!!

Some States, Yes! Some States require certain markings on the vehicle, but markings can be the same color as the vehicle. (that's considered marked!!!) Also some States require the vehicle be primarily used for traffic violation enforcement.

If the occupants of the "disguised" car were real cops, then yes, they can ticket you. What THEY are driving has no relevance at all. It's how YOU were driving that matters.

Police officers driving unmarked police vehicles can still issue you a citation.

If you mean an "unmarked" car ... then, the answer is yes.

If you were speeding, and a policeman in a vehicle- marked or unmarked, caught you speeding. Then, you are busted, pal.

Pay up.

It will depend on the state.

some states have rules that only marked cars can do traffic stops. ( with some exceptions for drug task force and the such)

In other states they may. ( will note that at lest in our states police lights would be blue, not red, fire department would be red. ( but it may be different in your area)

If you had recognized the car as a police car would have been caught speeding? I don't think so. They have to catch the law breakers some how. Slow down, Stupid!!

What in the world does the disguised car have to do with it?
If you were speeding, you are busted.
He could bust you even if he was in a golf cart if he could catch you!!
Slow down!!!!

Of course, assuming you were speeding. What were you expecting, some rule that they have to carry a neon sign or some such?
