Well everyone needs to move out and get a place of there own. Now would be a good age, 18-19. But when you move over to your friends place, you need to pay your half of everything. Rent, phone, eletcricity, ect. If you don't your going to add a financial burden to your friend, plus you need to buy your own food and help around the house. It's not as fun as you think, living on your own, because now you have to get a job, and start supporting yourself. Good luck.

Theres really no 'best age' for moving out of your parents house. Its possible that your relationship with your parents will become stronger not being with them all the time. And heck if you're not paying rent at your friends then maybe its time to make the switch. My dad was alcoholic. I know what the stress can be like and it was a great relief to get away and not have to deal with it day to day. You need to have your own life and sometimes living with that kind of stress just doesn't allow you too. Good luck to you :)

If your mom has a drinking problem everything will upset her that doesn't ahve to do with drinking, I know I am an alcoholic. Move out and enjoy your life, don't worry about your mom, kids are supposed to move out. You will have a better relationship with her in the long run, but don't buy into the drinking bullshit. If she needs help let her get it and don't be her scapegoat. Drinkers need someone to blame so they can justify drinking cause you pissed them off. So we use other people to have an excuse to drink. Be responsible for yourself and if she quits drinking be very supportive, it is a disease, but it is one that can be cured with help. You may want to find some Alanon meetings to get a better understanding of the problem that familys face with drinking.

If you feel your ready to move out. Move out. But understand that if you upset your parents in the midst of it all, then your on your own from now on. It's nice you won't have to pay rent right now. But what if you and your friend argue and you can't live together anymore. You need to make sure you cover all your angles. Go ahead but just make sure you have a plan "b". You don't want to have to come crawling and begging back for your parents to let you move back in.

You can't worry about your mom. She needs to be responsible for herself and stop drinking, I hate to sound abrasive but it is not your responsibility to worry about her! I was 18 when I moved out because my parents were way too strict with me. If you feel the time is right then go for it! There is no time like the present and it will build character. Your mom will get over it and you are an adult now so I say go ahead and live your life! Have fun now because you are only this age once!

Right about now sounds good.
Lucky you to not have to pay rent!
Never a better time than the present.
You know you've got to do it soon anyway.
