i'v heard that it has been scientifically proven that people cannot live long without love, but i still find it hard to believe.

heres the story that came with the claim : A group of scientist took a child away from its parents and kept in a room and gave it all basic necessities ( food, water, that type of stuff).... everything except love. the scientist wouldnt give the child andy kind of attention or contact other than the providing of food and water.

to make a short story shorter : the child had was kept in a room, was aware of other human life, given food and water, but was deprived of love. and died in under 6 years WITHOUT any disease or illness

but do you believe in this " fact "

That story has been around for about five years or so.....

I believe that...

....maybe because I believe in this:

"what is life without love?"

That story couldn't even be true. No scientific organization in the world would give a bunch of scientists permission to put a child in some weird isolation chamber and deprive it of human contact, that would be insane. Anyway many people have come out of violent or abusive homes devoid of any love and are doing perfectly fine with themselves.

Honestly, I believe that love is a very important aspect to living and happiness. Of Course the logical thought of this is a very deep subject and I could go on for much too long.

(1) For one........Someone can live without love if someone has never known love, then they will never know what they have lived without. I honestly believe that a percentage of children who live in our society today have lived this scenario; with their parents/and every surrounding being they know on heavy drugs, hatefilled and self-centeredness etc.

(2) Love can be received in so many ways........ If someone has had love in their life and they feel that they have lost love, have they in actuality? You can receive love in so many forms, from friends, children, family, pets, maybe even vibes of love from complete strangers. It may be a different form of love than being in love with your mate, however you are still receiving love. None the less the energy of love is around.

(3) I have known of old couples who lost there mate and actually died very soon after from a broken heart. This could be based on the level of love that has grown over too much time........... or a mental destruction on a physical being. The mind can have alot of power. Or maybe it's due to the pain in the heart causing too much of a strain on the rest of the bodies organs which has too much age to overcome the shock. Who knows, but this is a true mystery.

(4) I don't believe the story, because I can't imagine anyone putting a person in this type of situation just for a study (or that it is legal); I do believe that someone would conduct this kind of project with a ginny pig however. Also If you will refer to my first example, I honestly believe that children live through this type of environment everyday.

This is a good question. My conclusion and thought is that to never know love, you CAN live without it; however to know love and never again receive any energy of love you CANNOT live without it (and this would be hard to prove because you would have to pull a person away from every form of life and love).

Well, I'm right in there with you about it's all false. My husband passed away about 3 years ago and I was so in love with him - my heart actually hurt when he passed - and I was very suicidal, etc. I'm still mourning his loss but I don't think I'm going to die early because I don't have someone to love me anymore.

Oh - and as far as do I believe the fact about the little girl that died in under 6 years without love -NO. That's a lie. She probably had some sickness.

There is a mind-body link. Perhaps this child died from lack of love - but other children might have been stronger & survived.

I alive alone & have no one on earth who I feel cares about me or loves me - but I have my Supreme Lord Jesus Christ & His love gives me my reason for living.

so I think that sometimes, some individuals could succumb to being without demonstrable love.. but not all - as in a generic rule.

There is an earlier episode of the Simpsons where one guy (I think it was Dr Monroe) wanted Burns to subsidise such an experiment.

As a psychologist trained in human experimentation, I would like to review the paper that resulted from this "research." It certainly isn't appropriate research. However, I have heard of similar experiments with monkeys, with similar results.

Where did you hear about this? Post the link please.
