Some people have unreasonable fears. do you think the cat is dangerous? Do you have evidence of this? Do you fear you will harm the cat.

If you are willing to face the fear --- it is actually easy to get over the fear.

Get a friend to help. PUt the cat in a carrier and leave it across the room from you. Go as close as you can tolerate without getting too nervous. Watch your friend interact with the cat. Time how long you do this don't stop when you get nervous but stay until time is up...fleeing will heighten and worsen the fear.

do this untill you are not nervous. Then go closer next time. Repeat until you can go right to the carrier kitten. Don't stick fingers in the cage, it will look playful and may accidently hurt you not out of mean ness but being playful not realizing it might scare or minor scratch.

Then stand across the room, behind a barrier. Watch your friend, then other friends play with the cat outside the cage or carrier. Do this awhile until not scared. Do it by time and may need to repeat in 10 or 16 minute intervals. Then step closer and repeat. Do this until you can get real close while they play with the cat.

Notice everything. Playfulness, when something is a play bite, whether it truly does harm or just stings or doesn't harm. Notice how your friend can correct the cat. Notice the affection given and returned. Notice how your friend reacts.

Do this until not nervous then have friend hold cat and let you just touch her or him (the cat) while holding it. don't play just touch. Do this for about 10 minutes and do this several times until you are ok with it. Then Sit in the room with the cat roaming around. Again timed intervals untill you are ok.

If you get scared figure out what you are telling yourself automaticaly. What odds are you giving harm? Then ask yourself....are those odds realistic? Ask frinds what percent of the time the cat harms them. Play scientist. Is what you are thinking realistic? Sometimes these thoughts are not rational in the sense they are unlikely.....and they can be hidden. What are you saying .. you are not stupid..there is something you are getting out of this behavior even if it is avoiding harm you believe could happen, or are unwittingly using it to get attention (nothing wrong with attention but this may not be the best way to get it!) For example, health behavior... people think well I'm not getting anything out of extra weight!. Ahhh, but you are. You don't have to avoid fun foods, you don't have to sweat, its comfy on the couch..................could be you are avoiding what you feel is real deprivation but actually the best diet is NOT a diet but a food plan you can live with for life. Have the cake just cut back on other things that day for example or use whole grains instead of refined, use yogurt to make onion dip, etc.

exposure is the best cure for fear.

See www.apa.org American Psychological Association for nifty articles on fears, stress, and lots of other day to day issues in emotions, stress, health, etc. There is sure to be a good article.

Uhm, i'm very extreme once I say this, she could be an animal hoarder, or her verify(s) are. She has in all probability lived in that way for thus long that she does not locate it unusual. in case you think of those cats would have regarded ill or malnourished,OR if there became animal feces and different issues that weren't wiped sparkling up precise, that's particularly helpful to touch the ASPCA, or an area animal administration branch. Having that many cats does not sound healthy for the folk or the animals.

Get rid of the cat. Normal or not [and who can tell with so little information] you don't want a pet that makes you uncomfortable. Pets are no different than people in this regard: Some pets fit us better than other pets. Some pets you just naturally love, but others you don't.

No it probably isn't to normal but why are you afraid of the cat? The cat is just as scared of you as you are of it. Let the cat know your here so he/she can get to know who you are. Don't worry! You and your cat will get used to each other sooner or later.
