There are a lot of games that you can play that help you type faster, like:

Type Fast

Type Masta

Fowl Words 2 (this one is fun)

Or if you prefer programs, I would go with Mavis Beacon. This has a lot of different games and tutorials that can help you with typing faster.

There are many good tools to speed up typing. There's a typing game on Yahoo!, but I can't remember the name off the top of my head. I personally bought "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" to help with my typing speed (it's about $20). You might be able to find some good buys on eBay.

I wouldn't give anything for the typing classes I took in high school in the 1970's. They had typing books that were easy to follow and started helping people to memorize a few letters at a time instead of everything all at once.

I would go to an old antique book store and see if you can't find one of those way out of print typing books and follow it page by page. I type over 100 words a minute now with very few mistakes as a result of those old, old classes they offered in the 1970's.

Those old books were fun.

Pick up a Mavis Beacon typing program (if they still make those). I used to be one of those 1 finger typers, then I started working with a Mavis Beacon program, and now I can touch type really quickly and use all my fingers instead of just 1. Hehe. It helps you with accuracy, speed, and learning where everything is on the keyboard, so you don't need to watch your hands.
Now watch this... there's going to be a typo somewhere in this answer I just know it.. Just to make me look like an idiot...lol

Practice. Your typing will improve naturally as you spend more time at the keyboard. If you IM, try using proper spelling and grammar. (Being able to handle spelling and grammar while you carry on a conversation will improve your writing and speaking tremendously)

you can get a typing program from a store or something, or just find a website and retype the words, and switch around for new material.
