Im 16 and for the past few months I have felt really sad, and I just cant get up to go to school so I am always missing many days. My friends are hanging out without me now, and I feel like they are bored with me. I know a couple of people in my family have depression, so could I have it? What should I do? I really dont talk to my parents about stuff, so I really dont know what to do.

There may be many factors that could be contributing towards how you are feeling.

My best advice is to seek medical advice for any health issues.

Depression can be easily treated with medication &/or other techniques that your doctor will discuss with you.

The earlier your doctor can diagnose your condition - the better.
Not only for treatment - but to give you back your quality of life.

Life is to be enjoyed.

First of all I want to start off by telling you that I have Had depression for over 10 years now so I know alot about it. What your going through could be many things. Since you said that depression runs in your family it is a possibility that you could have it also because it is hereditary. Since you don't talk to your parents talk to an aunt, cousin somebody that you trust and that can help you because you need to go and be checked be a doctor to see if you have depression. If you do it's not the end of the world. There are alot of good meds out there today. Good luck and God Bless.

Honey sometimes depression is not emotional...it could be physical like maybe you have type two Diabetes, (which is very treatable) and no doctor has diagnosed it...get checked out. Many years ago I thought I was just depressed, I had no energy for getting up, people were bored with me...eventually I found out it was low blood sugar otherwise know as type two Diabetes. I must have had it for about 25 years before it was diagnosed.
Check it out .... Do talk to your parents about it, I now have been treating it for ten years and I am in great health...
and no depression. Good Luck and God Bless.

You could be suffering form depression a lot of teens do, if you can't talk to your parents talk to a school counselor. Your friends may get bored with you and then you would be alone which would add to depression if you are. So get some advise from a counselor or church. There are also crisis hot line with trained professionals that can talk to you and tell you where to go for help

You might have some depression. And it is genetically inherited, but meds are to be used as a Very Last resort when everything else has failed !!!

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy honestly is THE Best route for getting successful help with depression. It teaches one self-help and has the highest success rate over any other treatment, and also least expensive as well.

go see your counselor, who can help you with the school stuff. Talk to your friends and let them know whats up. You need to make the effort to be with them. Also write in a journal maybe to let out everything, that way you could see what is up, because once you write it out you see it better.
