Take notice of name and badge number and report him/her to superior. A little remedial customer service is in order.

Write in a complaint. Or talk to a higher upper about the individual. Write a letter to the editor.

I'm with you. Of course, he wouldn't have a job if people didn't need help or have questions. He should thank you for every question you ask. He shouldn't be dealing with the public.

I am very nice to counter help when they are rude to me (or just stupid) and then blow them off. No need to bring yourself to their level. Reporting poor help sometimes doesn't do any good.

Assert yourself!! Don't let this peon try to undermine you.The answer to "Why still ask ?" is " Because that is what they pay you to tell me, and if you can't then perhaps your manager can after I speak to him."
