I think the person blowing their nose should try their best to excuse themselves... but sometimes you don't have the chance to do that, so in that case, turning their head away from the table to do it would be fine. But as someone else said, blowing your nose at the dinner table is better than letting your snot hang out! I'd just hope they'd wash their hands after they blew their nose!

Blowing your nose at the table, lightly or otherwise, is always rude. If your nose needs attention other than a quick dab or wipe, you need to remove yourself from the dining area. As long as others are present, whether they are finished eating or not - noseblowing is simply tacky and disgusting to all the other guests. Thank you for asking :-)

I believe blowing your nose around people who are eating is a bit rude. I know I don't want to hear someone doing that when I'm taking a big bite of food. It's just not appropriate.

it incredibly is rather dealt with in distinctive approaches in distinctive cultures. for occasion, in Japan, the English translation for "to blow ones nostril" is rather "nostril waste". So the jap view it as different actual waste purposes. on the different hand, permit's settle for it. i might incredibly have somebody that blows their nostril on the dinner table, incredibly than "sniffling" for an hour and inflicting a protracted term nuisance. in my view, i like warm exceedingly spiced ingredients. issues with various peppers and different spices. the only hardship is, those issues additionally reason my sinuses to start to run like mad. How do I handle it? I usually excuse myself from the dinner table and then circulate someplace inner maximum to blow my nostril. notwithstanding if I ought to excuse myself 2 or three times throughout a a million hour meal, i think of it incredibly is terrific. for somebody older and with decreased mobility, i think of the right element to do is to coach ones chair remote from the table for a 2d. Blow the nostril. and then turn returned in direction of the dinner table. it is what my father used to do at abode, and it looked completely good. the element is, you do no longer decide to "contaminate" the table, flatware or nutrition which incorporate your "germs". So, turning approximately and heavily looking after a dripping sinus works nicely.

Always excuse yourself and go to the restroom to blow your nose...it's a sign of respect to your fellow dining guests.

My sis and I dine frequently together and she feels she needs to blow her nose after we have finished our meal (at the table). I think it is rude, tasteless, unclassy, unmannerly and just horribly gross!!!

Bad manners, but it would just be plain gross if you let it fall out on the table. So I'd forgive you.

I'd rather hear you blow (lightly) than see you drip! At this time of year, a lot of folks have sniffles, and I'd rather see or hear someone blow their nose than not!

It is horrible and offensive. Excuse yourself and go to the washroom and wash your hands after you have finished.
