I'd love to be able to journal, but I tend to find when I start journaling it makes me even more self contained and insular. At the moment I am dealing with severe depression and part of me thinks that having somewhere to write down (I'm not interested in typing it or putting it online) what I'm feeling will help. Or would I be better just trying to forget about it all and move on?

I don't feel that you should forget about journaling your feelings. It's good to write down your feelings-but i feel one can do so much journaling that you can become so obsessed with writing writing writing that i don't think we give ourselfs time to process what we are writing down-i almost think that spending MUCH time writing your feelings that it may become even more depression. I found it to become an obsession when i was spending so much time writting and it kind of causes you depression to grow. This is what i found was helpful. take one or two short period of time to dot down how you feel. Give yourself a time period for each time you write, say you usually spend two hours writing--try to cut that time in half and only once or twice a day. try to shorting what you are trying to write-but still be sure to write what is bothering you. Then when you get a better handle on the length of time you write--find a special time maybe 30 minuites once or twice a day. It will give you time to proccess whats bothering you. I don't mean to make a strict 30 min. at a time to write-if you need to write down a little more- thats great. My concern is that if you spend alot of time journaling it may add to your depression- you need to stick some good feelings in you day too. find some things that you enjoy to do even if you only enjoy it a little. Try to make it your mission to put nice things into your days. Even if you don't feel like feeling good -"that's not as crazy as it sounds!!" but sometimes we have to step back zero in on something even what you feel is very little possitive, to give yourself time to check it out- if its not fun or happy after you tried it- nothing is really lost-atleast your looking for some possitive to put in your life!
I'LL BE THINKING OF YOU-HUNT FOR HAPPINESS TILL YOU FIND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You HAVE to journal! It's a necessity. You have to get those feelings out before they come out on someone else. It's also cool when you write something that is so depressing yet so profound. Years later you get to read it again and think wow, I have come a long way because what I wrote back then doesn't even bother me anymore. It's makes me feel good when I have overcome a problem that I had written about long ago in my journal. It certainly eases the depression. Keep writing but write in a book because it's interesting how your mood effects your handwriting.

Keep on writing!

If you could forget about it all and move on you wouldn't be depressed. This stuff has a way of hanging around. Journaling is a personal thing that only you can determine is helpful or not. Ususally it is. Just do it your way, there is no wrong way to journal. You could also try a good self-help book that isn't full of "pop psychology". Try 'Feeling Good' by David Burns

Yes, but during depression, set a time limit & write on loose paper. It helps so if you go to too dark a place you can tear up &
try for a better place, plus time limit helps you from dwelling on the bad. Good luck, I find it helps me to see that some thoughts are irrational & have no basis. It also helps to remind me what I want to discuss with Psychologist.

i replaced right into somewhat at a loss for words by capacity of the hunt. Does he propose a mag approximately your random day to dayness, or a mag with suggestions for destiny plots, characters, etc. no remember if it incredibly is a random each and on a daily basis magazine i do no longer think of it incredibly is needed to maintain a mag to workout you concepts. you will no longer lose your capacity by capacity of no longer writing. resourceful writing and writing a mag are apples and oranges. In a mag you would be extra comfortable which incorporate your writing, sloppy with shape, etc. while writing a unique you should word of shape, grammar, etc. IMO, while you're retaining a mag in basic terms considering the fact which you think of it is going to workout the concepts then it incredibly is a waste of paper. in spite of the indisputable fact that while you're doing it for its very own sake than I say circulate forward. I write in in a mag, yet no longer for any objective. i like the thought i'm able to in basic terms write. no longer hardship approximately paragraphs, spelling, each and all of the failings I ought to look out for while writing a unique. Its a rigidity reliever for me. I also have a mag that i exploit for random writing workouts to get me interior the flow, i like to place in writing in between writing the genuine stuff and a mag is functional for that. I write in it for the affection of writing, no longer working the concepts, etc. I even have found a mag to maintain suggestions in effective. I in basic terms resently found an previous magazine that I had written 3 sentences for a e book thought. After staring at this very obscure plot(if it ought to additionally be noted as that) a narrative began to type slowly, and that i've got been coming up it for some months now. those sentences have been from over 3 years in the past, returned then i could no longer artwork those sentences right into a do-in a position plot, yet now am in a position. I even have continuously found it effective to place in writing all suggestions notwithstanding in case you are able to no longer make it into something on the time considering the fact which you will possibly be waiting to interior the destiny. each and every author has their very own approaches of retaining on the ball. some people decide to maintain journals and others do no longer. it incredibly is a private determination and interior the tip as much as you to be sure no longer some author of a e book.

Journaling and typing is always an excellent idea for Most people. I wouldn't type your personal challenges online.

It's never a good idea to hold things inside.

It also helps people to think more clearly as they journal seeing things as they truly are.

journaling is a good way to express yourself when there is no one to listen. once you have written it down it sometimes makes what is bothering you easier to let go and move on. also write down how your resolved it, then you have a good tool to fall back on if you come across the same issue again

don't forget about it, because you won't move past it. it will still haunt you. if you don't let it out, things will just get worse and more overwhelming. If writing doesn't help, try talking to someone or in a recorder. just get it out of you.

Well, if it makes you feel better, write on a scrap of paper and just throw it away. Knowing that it won't ever be read again helps me to write openly. :-)

Definitely. Any outlet is good, whether it be talking to someone or writing it down. It helps you to release negative emotions.
