I want to creat a spreadsheet where I can enter information under column A and be able to choose different options for the rest of the columns. How do I go about adding dropboxes with the options I want into each column?

Example: On online forms, when you fill out your address, you usually have a dropbox with all the states for you to choose your state. How do I make one of those for my spreadsheet?

Not something I do often. First of all on the next worksheet create your lists for the different options for the columns. For example, with states; create your list of states on a worksheet behind the one you want to enter on.

Then go to the cell where you want your choices to be entered and go to data and choose the validation option. I would then pick settings and allow: choose the option for list. You will need to put your source data (eg worksheet 2 and then the cells) and then on the front page you will have an arrow - when you click on the arrow your list of states should appear.

Add all your lists in and then protect the lists sheet so no-one deletes it accidentally!

There are other options on the validation option, so you may want to play a little. Good luck!

this might ensue if the cellular is formatted for dates until now you enter the fee. attempting to alter the format mutually as there's a cost interior the cellular won't help, because of the fact that a different inner fee is already being utilized by skill of Excel. (some people write their dates that way, so Excel obliges. uncertain the way you acquire 42345, because of the fact the selection 41078 is how Excel internally represents the date June 18 2012.) The cellular ought to be many times or selection format *until now* entering into the selection you %.

Debra Dalgleish has some good helps on using Data Validation (one of the ways drop downs can be created). She even shows how to create dependent drop downs (where the choice in the first one controls the available options in the next one).

Right-click the toolbar, and choose FORMS. From the Forms menu, you can choose to insert a drop box.
