It depends on the kind of algae. One must remember that kelp is a type of algae and some species of brown kelp can grow on the order of meters per day. Some kelp species will grow centimeters per day and some algal species may only grow millimeters per day. Growth is specific to species and many organisms are considered algae.

I would assume millimeters...but it really depends on how much sun and other nutrients it's getting. By the way, did you know that algae are not plants?
