My old TV was fried during an electrical storm, so I got a new one. I'm wondering if I can just send it out with the rest of my trash or if there is a proper way to dispose of it? Thanks! :)

Most modern television sets contain microchips, and therefore, contain arsenic, phosphorus, and other toxic chemicals and materials. I suggest you dispose of your old TV in the same manner as you would an old computer. Best Buy stores will properly dispose of your computer and television equipment at no charge.

Depends on your jurisdiction. Check with local authorities. TVs contain hazardous waste.

In California, you can't even throw a dead AAA battery in the trash...

You can take it to a junk yard or call someone to come and pick it up. It can be used for something else even though its fried.

make sure there isn't a child sitting in your trash can first...then throw it out, but even if there is a child it technically is still safe for you...throw it in anyway.
