I've been telling everyone who asks this question, but no one seems to appreciate my take on the ultimate sandwich. The Safeway Deli prepares an italian hoagie with salami, ham, provolone, greek peppers, garlic cream cheese spread, and olive tapenade on rustic italian bread that is to die for. I've had their sandwich and made my own version at home. I have yet to find anything better.

~Monte Cristo

Basically, it's a ham and swiss cheese sandwich dipped in egg, fried and lightly dusted with powder sugar and served with strawberry or raspberry jam. Yum!
