Because it made the story more interesting. You can't get converts with "And God created everything perfectly and everybody lived happily ever after"

God did not create the earth in 6 days. He did not create it in seven days either. If you look closely at Gen. 1:2, you will see that the earth was already in existence BEFORE the first day started, Those six creative days were vast time periods that Jehovah used to prepare the earth for human habitation. Before those "days" got under way, the earth could have been in existence for millions or billions of years.

Actually, God made the universe in 6 days, the 7th day was set aside for rest. An artist doesn't create a masterpiece by snapping his/her fingers. A piece of art can take years to create.

It took 6 days and on the 7th he rested. I think as God created something, He sat back and enjoyed it, the rest day was an example for us to follow.

You have to understand that if god was to create our world, or even the universe in less the 7 days, there might be some of us that wouldn't believe it possible, and we might even start to question the bible, or even the very existence of god himself/herself.

a day is like a thousand years and a 1000 years as if a day. Whose daze are we talken bout His or yourz. Another thing one might interpret the creation not from your perspective or God's but those to whom the message was given. Imagen how would you explain a complex subject to someone who had their daze in their head all screwed up. yeah I know it is days did u no about ur daze.

To show us to rest every 7 days.

Because that time frame is not literal. A day may as well be a billion years to an omnipotent being.
