With companies going overseas for a lack of professional, skilled, and unskilled labor, immigration reform has become a pressing issue. What are the dominant immigration reform plans out there, and what are the core differences between them (ie. National ID numbers, amnesty, work authorization cards)? I am looking for serious replies please.

First off companies are no going overseas from the lack of professional, skilled and unskilled labor. They had them here in America and laid them off.
They are going overseas because a skilled professional in China or India gets about $7.00 an hour unskilled labor about 35 to 40 cents an hour.
American companies are selling out America and its labor force for a better bottom line.
Companies like Huffy bicycles, General motors, toys like etch-a-sketch now made in china. IBM moved its major manufacturing to India. All to produce a better bottom line. Best of all GE closed down its side by side refrigerator in Bloomington Indiana laying off nearly 500 workers, telling them they were no longer going to manufacture that model,
What GE did not tell the workers is that they had gotten a loan guarrantee of 3 milliom dollars from the Export-import bank (a government agency) to build a new plant in Mexico, to manufacture that very side by side refrigerator. NAFTA at its very best.
They go to these foreign countries, use 35 to 40 cent an hour employees, give them no benefits, no sick leave no nothing. Then bring their product back to America and sell it to us at the going rate making thousands and millions more each year in profit.
If you would like to get a true idea how bad it is, I suggest you get Senator Bryon L. Dorgan's book titled
"TAKE THIS JOB AND SHIP IT". Very interesting reading if you care about the future of America.
Now as for the immigration reforms.
None of our upstanding legislators will take or make a stand.
They clearly show they are not in the least interested in protecting America, only their jobs.
They are doing nothing at all.
Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton want to let as many in as want to come. The ones already here would get citizenship tomorrow if left to them. Before you say it now I am not a Republican.
I can promise you this. The American tax payer and every American citizen will loose when the fools in Washington do make a plan. The American tax payer is already supporting half of Mexico's population, and more are on the way.
By the way the part about GE, is from the book.

immigration reform is amnesty illegal aliens have violated our federal laws and entered this great nation then they don't pay taxes, they steal our benifits ie healthcare welfare food stamps they get arround paying insurance and cause accidents then leave or if arrested are set free and never own up to their responsibility.
if we finally closed the open boarder and through attrition deport the illegal alien criminals eventually big buisness will have to pay a fare share wage. and when a mexican comes here legally they will be much more happier because their wage will be adequate they will be welcomed and we wont have to hunt them down .

American immigration system is broken and doesnt account for market realities or migration realities. First, guest worker is needed with Mexico and Latin America to reduce the incentive of business to pratice expliotation on those workers. Second, Skilled immigration should be more selective based on the country of origin of the worker because its not right to drain a very poor nation of its skilled workers. Third, We need promote a work programs here workers from poor nations can work here to upgrade skills and take the skills home to help thier nations. Finally, we need to acknowkledge the obvious with Mexico is that we cut of immigration and trade with Mexico your looking at a drop of over a trillion dollars or more in econmic output . Mexico and Unted States economy would collaspe we create econmic and soical crisis on both borders.

The government has no coherent plan, just political rhetoric during election time.
