Hi. The CRT type could lose a good percentage of their volume, maybe 50%. LCDs would not lose much at all, as with all flat panel types. The position in a landfill determines how much force is applied, more at greater depths, but the ratios would be about the same.

The answer has many variables. First the TV: old or new? large or small? brand? type?
Second, does the municipality have crushing garbage trucks? Do they have a compactor before going to the landfill? How much compacting is done at the landfill? Giant track vehicles crawl over the area filled that day, before the top layer is put on.
Some landfills havae a recycleing place ,where perhaps TVs are placed, but not gently.
It is not likely that from a landfill you would even get any useful parts.
