If you can make up a ridiculous story like believing in a god, then its quite easy to make up some story about how he's going to identify you.

When Christians pray...we pray in the spirit...so, we do not have to identify who we are praying for, as the God Lord Knows who you are!! isn't that wonderful?
i pray now over you and place a hedge of protection over your mind that you are covered with the blood of the lamb amen

Hmmm. Is it better that I know exactly who you are or is it better that an intelligent, mindful, and benevolent God knows who you are? So, in our prayers it is enough to relate to you in your being human like the rest of us. Therefore, we always have a pretty good idea of what to pray for in each other, because we are all human and desire the same things (e.g.) happiness, security, freedom, life. Yet, since we are human we are not always mindful and we are forgetful. So when we say we are praying for a stranger our charitable hearts trust enough that it is more important for the Lord to know you when we cannot due to time and space.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

God (in all his incarnations) is within us all. As we are all made of his image, we are the church within which we show our faith. We are therefore our own salvation and we are judged directly by our peers for our actions. Therefore are actions are are downfall or salvation. Pray not to a false god, but to the God that you believe to be the truth above all other physical truths. Look within yourself and revel in your humanity, for you are as unique as it is possible to be in all of the universes that he has created. Pray not what he will do, but praise what he has already done, for we are all in our unique way living Gods.

I hate it when strangers say 'I'll pray for you' on here - it's sooo patronising. It clearly states that the other person believes that the person whom they are addresses has no religion, or is of the "wrong" religion, it's ridiculous. If I wanted prayers, I am capable of saying them myself, to my God, in line with my beliefs.

God knows you. We do not need to know who you are. We just have to have the desrire to pray for you, and God understands. Thinking and speaking prayers helps us. God already knows what we will ask before we put it into words.

Yes. That's exactly what we will say. Jesus knows who you are. It's all part of His love for us. And for you. We have no doubt that when we pray for you, or for misguided strangers for who we have no nickname or avatar, our Father in Heaven will hear our prayers and direct the help, comforting, guidance, healing, etc, to exactly who we meant to receive it.
Glory to God!
