Has his thyroid been checked? Did the vet offer suggestions on play time exercise? How about a prescription cat food for weight control? Did the vet check for diabetes?
Maybe your cat is older and can not loose weight too quickly?..There are alot of good cat foods out their for over weight cats. make sure he has fresh water all the time. Try and provide you xcat with interesting things to play with. ..I think ther are more over weight cats out there than not personally...Please do not take the cats food away!!!

Your cat must be an indoor cat and therefore it is bored. It is going to need exercise or better yet, a pet. My cat can't stop watching the fish tank and when we had a hamster, she was always staring at the darn thing. Your cat needs other interest besides food and looking out the window. When my cat is really bored, I tie one of its toys to a door know so it has something to play with when she is home alone, but mostly my cat is outside where it can play in the garden.

Perhaps it is not the amount, but WHAT you're feeding your cat. There are good brands of kibble like Eukanuba, Natural Balance, and Felidae that do not have all those extra filler ingredients and main fatty ingredients like many other kinds of brands like Iams and Science Diet do.
Play with kitty. Get him moving alot: lasers, feathers on sticks, bags, boxes, little balls and mice.
If there seems to be no results from this, perhaps there should be an examination on your cat to make sure nothing's medically wrong with him.

First, start feeding your cat the weight-loss food that many brands offer. Then, go to the vet and see what they suggest to help your cat lose weight. I have known several dog owners that have put their overweight dogs on the green bean diet, and it actually works. I don't know if this applies with cats or not. See what your vet reccommends. And avoid feeding your cat table scraps, as that can add a lot of extra weight.
Good luck!

Stop giving treats. Put on special quality cat food you can get from your vet. play with your cat. get a fiber based food for your cat, also a ph balance food wouldnt hurt. Dont have food out for your cat all the time. Your cat should eat a cup of food a day. half cup in the morning, half cup in the evening, nothign more! If your cat cries for food it is because he/she is accustom to food. When cat cries for food at wrong times, play with the cat, the cat is replacing the play it doesnt get with food. Cats can eat of of emptiness and depression too.

He or she must excersice more. Just like humans we must be active to stay thin. So try at Wal*Mart they have cat toys where it has a stick and string and at the bottom of the string is some feathers and a bell. The feathers are ok to digest just in case or try petsmart.

Trust me, if you REALLY put it on a diet with diet food from the vet and fed it according to the instructions and gave it NOTHING else, it WOULD lose weight. You can help it exercise too!!!!!!
