Every time she drinks water she sounds like she is choking. I have asked every one I know including my vet and no one seems to know what it is. She is 5 and has done it ever since i have had her. I dont think she is going to die i am just wondering if anyone experiences this with their dog?

Try elevating your pup's water bowl. Sometimes, the bowl sitting on the floor makes the dog suck extra hard to drink & she will swalow too much air. This was a problem I had with my malamutes & disappeared as soon as I raised the water bowl just a bit off the floor.

The water may be getting trapped inside your dogs throat.
Therefor she wants to get it out and and sounds like she is choking and trying to push the water out.
Sometimes after my dog drinks water he does the same thing.
When you refill your dog's water dish, put a very little amount of water in her dish. That way she cannot take big gulps.

Check her mouth. Maltese are known for having a second set of teeth. (we had one, not the teeth the Maltese), that is the problem with the water getting down her throat.....she is fine.
