The dogs are a 10 year old pug and a 2 year old pug/chihuaua mix. The p/c mix was the one who pulled out the others eye. We took her to the vet and had her eye sewn shut since the eye wasn't saveable, but since she's been home from the vet, the p/c keeps trying to start fights with her.

They are the same sex, both females, and the p/c mix has always been the dominent one sincec she came here. But the fighting was never this bad. Also, I don't know if it matters, but they have the same mom but different dads. The pug has been very snuggly since the incident and we have to put the p/c in a cage while we hold the pug or she'll attack her.

Oh! Your poor little puggie! :(
Definitely keep the two separated and please get them altered if they aren't. That's a serious injury, I would give some serious thoughts to finding a new home for your chi mix. But before you do that, maybe ask the vet for his/her advice? It may be a fixable situation, especially if it's just confusion over who is the alpha. The alpha is the one who gets the first treat, the first attention, etc. If the chi is getting mixed signals she/he may be insecure about his/her place in the pack and is trying to challenge your pug.
Good luck and tons of get well wishes to your sweet little pug!!

I am horrified, your poor pug! I know accidents happen with dogs, but this is terrible. If you have dogs that fight that badly that there was a severe injury- it is time to rethink the dynamic. It is not working the way it is. I would try seeing a pet trainer- you can pay $60 at Petsmart and they are yours for an hour session to help you learn ways to handle particular problems. If it can be trained to 'leave it' with regards to the pug, then you may be able to keep it, but if the aggression can't be stopped, then you may want to consider getting it a new home. A dog aggressive like that is not happy and honestly, it is not making you happy either. The pug needs some TLC and deserves to be kept away from the other dog. Look into training, and then adoption. Good luck.

Whoaaaaa that is some serious stuff! You need to get some obedience training for the the Pug/Chihuahua mix as soon as possible...your poor Pug! They have enough problems with their sight as is...and you do not want to end up with a blind pug!

Chihuahas are agressive little dogs. You really need to find a good home for it. It isn't fair for the 10 yr old dog to suffer from that little stinker. I know it may hurt your heart but your 10 yr dog was there first. If you can't find a home then you really need to keep them separated. Don't put your 10 yr old dog outside, because it is getting old. The younger dog needs to be the one.....Hope you do the right thing by our devoted older dog.

You will need to seperate these pets,as the one that has the bad temperment is evidently jealous of the other one. They must be the same sex.The pet that is agressive needs anger management.Keep them seperated or the agressive one will injur the other one again.

Decide which dog to get rid of.Its quite obvious they arent compatable..so why make both of their lives miserable.see if a friend will take the other dog,or give one to a animal agency (spca ,humane society ect.)

last yr. i had 3 chiuauas, and we had just gotten a weiner dog. my oldest chiuaua was trying to start fights with him, so i smacked her alittle and put her in a room and closed the door. she learned her lesson, but she still growled. again, i smacked her alittle. she looked at me and she didnt do anything. but then, she did that again, so i took the 3 of the chis out side. i gave 2 of them treats and the one i sent to her room. (yes, my dogs have rooms) but, my point is, she learned her lesson after i gave her consiquenses every day. now, she growls, but she dont start fights. maybe you should get another small dog, maybe the young one wants a playmate...

How disgusting. Well, now you know that you can't leave them together off a leash. It's that easy.
