It's probably the "dead tooth taste" and you won't get it to go away. It's not harmful just because it smells bad, but the infection that is causing it is harmful. If you can't get to the dentist, that's just the way it is going to be until you can. Do NOT try to stop it up with some drug store temporary filling or it will really start to hurt. It's like putting a cork in a bottle of soda and then shaking it up.

Does the area hurt a lot? Your teeth have nerves to a certain point. If you broke off a part that the nerve isn't hitting and the tooth isn't in unbearable pain, then you can probably wait to see a dentist. The taste might be from the tooth; it could also be psychological.

No, it seems odd.
Unless if your tooth exposed some type of filling you had put in earlier. Otherwise you are safe.
Try a strong mouth wash and see if any different.

It's probably the blood from your gums that you taste.I would use some mouth waste to remove the taste,or just chew some gum. There is probably nothing more you can do other than waiting for your appointment.

You may have an infection in your mouth. I would call the dentist again and see if you can get in ASAP if not find an emergency dentist on call.

you could've broken off a piece of hard tartar and exposed the underlying plaque it was covering, which would explain the bad taste from the feces of the uncleansed bacteria in your mouth.
