I think that if god showed himself there would be almost no sin on earth. I think if there was really a god he would show himself and destroy sin. (i dont mean show himself subconsciously while your screaming out in tongue) I mean present himself where everyone could see

99.99% of people will never do anything the same way.

Human beings are not logical, rational or predictable. If, hypothetically, a being appeared and declared itself to be god, what would the average person's response be? Prove it. What would the criteria be for belief? Would said being have to perform a miracle? If so, how many, and what kind? Who would decide if the miracle was "miraculous" enough to warrant belief? How would we be able to prove it wasn't a trick, or an advanced alien species come to take over our planet?

There are people in this world who would reject such a being even if it WAS god. Even if it demonstrated total, utter "godliness", some people simple won't worship something, and they would deny whatever it was they saw or heard. Some people LIKE to sin, and don't care about the consequences. Some people are psychotic sociopaths.

Besides, why would a "god" need to "appear" at all? If an all powerful being wanted to present itself convincingly, it could simply project it's presence into peoples minds directly. Then, you would have no choice but to know god.

The real question you should be asking is what does an all-powerful creator gain by currying favor from it's own creations? Why does an all-powerful creator play irrational games where reward is based upon obedience, but obedience is constantly tested? This is a zero-sum game. Nothing is gained in the end. If the person fails, the creator loses. If the person obeys, the creator wins, but has no more than when they started.

When you look at it carefully, god is simply an extension of the human experience of being born from parents. It's called the miracle of birth for a reason. It's incomprehensible for people to imagine that something can come from nothing, so god is a nice, tidy explanation for us. God is analogous to mankind's parent.

Parents desire their child's love, but they can't force it. They can make the child fear them to elicit obedience (old testament god) or they can be loving towards the child (new testament god) but it's always up to the child whether or not they choose to love the parent. The Christian religion is simply a metaphor for the parent-child relationship.

God did show Himself on earth, John 1:1 and 1:14, and 1 Timothy 3:16 says so. Why would they believe now, some didn't believe when he was here, read about Lazaurs and the rich man and see what Christ told lazaurs. Luke Chapter 16 starting with verse 19 note the response in verse27 thru 31 which said if they didn't believe what the prophets said and Moses they still won't repent in verse 31..or believe....

Well first of all...you needed to think about ur question or phrase it better - not everyone is a Christian. But could you imagine if what u said were true (and I dont believe it will happen btw) - what would it be like?
- Where would he show himself?
- Will he make the cover of the newspaper or make the international news? I cant imagine what that would be like. Which is why if he ever came (again, i dont believe he is) it would be so phenomenal that mankind I believe wouldnt exist anymore...... I mean...it would be like ppl going to Church and saying, "hey, did u know that God was here last week?"
I mean no mockery at all, I just believe that sumthing like that would never happen. We'll see what happens when we die tho.

Assalam uh Alaikum brothers and sisters...

No He did show Himself Many times 5,000 years ago as Lord Krishna but only some where ready to accept Him as God and many did not. He came 500 years ago as Lord Chaitanya (incognito as a devotee) Many accepted and some did not. Krishna(God) says in the Gita " Whenever there is a decline in religious principals and the truth appears to be lost I appear again and again or send my representative to reestablish the truth." So He keeps trying but this is the world of the miscreants who left The spiritual world (only 1/4th of the souls come here) You have to understand Reincarnation and Karma to get the whole picture The Ancient Christian Essenes have the lost teachings of Christ on Reincarnation, Karma And Vegetarianism, go to http://www.essene.org

Nope. They'd only turn Christian if God said that Jesus was his son, and we should follow the ways of the New Testament.

If God showed up alone without saying those things, plenty of people would want to become Jews or Islamic. Christians, Jews, and Moslems all worship the God of Abraham.

What an arrogant question! If God appears on earth let us hope that he is not a barbaric creation from the Judea-Christian stable.
Better a God from one of the more peaceful Eastern religions who is not so insecure that he has to punish non-believers for all eternity.

When He came to earth, died and Rose From the Dead ... and "showed Himself alive by many infallible proofs", not 99.99% believed though many did (and still do).

He has promised that when He comes again it will be with the Clouds and Great Glory, as the lightning shines from the east to the west, and when His feet stand on the Mount of Olives in that day, then an earthquake will split the Mount of Olives in two.

Even then will 99.99% believe? Probably not.

In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Lk16,31) reads "then Abraham said,'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'"Jesus had already addressed this question;if God showed Himself there would still be sin because the wheat and the tares will exist till the end of time(Mt13,36-43).

There would still be sin.

Don't Christians believe in God regardless of whether or not he makes himself apparent on Earth? I'm not a Christian, but that's what I figured. If you really believed in it then you would stick to it, is all. Of course I don't agree with religion in general in the sense that if you believe in God, or some higher being, then believe in Him (or it), but don't let a religion tell you what you should believe in. What authority does a church have to tell you what to do and what to believe in? Religion is manmade; faith is individual.

So...if you believe in a God but you sin anyway, then...wouldn't you think that sin exists regardless of whether or not God showed himself on Earth?

ABSOLUTLEY NOT.

There is so much proof God exists but you never hear about it on the news.. ppl don't care because they do not want to be responsible for their actions... they want to keep on living their lives in the way it is... becuz if God did exist (which he does) they would have to change their ways.

I've seen angels i've felt the wind of the HOly spirit.. i've heard stories of gays becoming ungay.. athiests becoming Christians because God revealed himself to them, the city of Hazor in isreal has been found.. and in the bible it said that joshua burnt it, and they found melted stone all along the base with ashes.

the only time when God will reveal himself will be in the revelation to the whole world and it will be too late and every knee will bow and tongue confess Jesus CHIRST IS LORD!
